He said Lima had evolved into one of the world's foremost exhibitions in the defence, maritime and aerospace sectors, especially in light of rapid developments in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
"I've seen not just unprecedented change, but also how the pace, particularly with new technology and artificial-intelligence, has been exceptional.
"This exhibition allows us to learn, share and see the latest capabilities, and to explore possibilities for meaningful collaboration," he said in his speech at the Lima'25 opening ceremony and reception dinner at the Langkawi International Convention Centre here tonight.
Also present were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Armed Forces Chief General Datuk Nizam Mohd Jaffar and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
He said the event location would also be expanded to accommodate more participation from international companies.
He said the exhibition area, especially at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), is currently becoming crowded and unable to accommodate more participants.
However, there is no specific period allocated for the matter but he hopes the relevant parties, including the Finance Ministry, can submit a report on the matter within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Anwar said that despite Southeast Asia being one of the most peaceful and economically vibrant regions in the world, nations must not take security for granted.
"To secure and ensure peace, there must be preparedness. I must state that in any country to secure and ensure peace, there must also be appreciation of changing circumstances, and changes in the industry," he said, adding that Lima was not merely a showcase, but a strategic platform to build long-term partnerships that strengthen national and regional readiness.
Malaysia, he said, remained committed to maritime safety and regional peace, citing ongoing cooperation through joint border committees, the Malacca Straits Patrol and trilateral security arrangements.
"We take a strong position to engage with all countries - East and West. This includes partners like the United States, China, India and Australia. We ascribe to Asean centrality and value all strategic partnerships."
Anwar said Malaysia will continue advocating national peace and security as well as participation in peacekeeping.
"(Our) peacekeeping efforts to the United Nations have been ongoing for decades. We also emphasise on the need for deployable capacities and capabilities, including training and support for women, peace and security agenda," he said.
The Lima exhibition, now in its 17th iteration since its inception in 1991, is scheduled to run for five days starting tomorrow. - NST
