All Retail Sectors Open Dine In Allowed
The businesses allowed to be opened are shops that have not been allowed to open during the second movement control order.KUALA LUMPUR: Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that all remaining retail sectors will be allowed to open from tomorrow onwards, although they will be subject to strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Putrajaya has also decided to allow dine-ins at food and beverage outlets, with two customers per table.
The number of people in a premise will also be limited according to the size of the shop to ensure physical distancing, he said.
The businesses allowed to be opened are retail shops that sell clothes, car accessories, cosmetics, sports accessories, photography shops and others that have not been allowed to open during the second movement control order.
Noting a recent report by Unicef, the United Nations children’s fund, that unemployment rates among low income urban households in Malaysia had doubled last year, Ismail said the government had decided to gradually loosen restrictions on the economy.
“This permission is being granted based on strict SOPs, but if there are new cases recorded in these premises, the businesses will be closed immediately,” he said.
“I hope everyone follows the SOPs (and) not be complacent when restrictions are loosened,” he warned.
The SOPs includes for the premises to be disinfected three times a day, the wearing of face masks, hand sanitisers to be provided at the entrance and used before entering.
Shops selling clothes will have to prepare disposable gloves for their customers while choosing clothing items.
Restaurants and other food outlets are only allowed to operate from 6am to 10pm, with a worker to ensure that physical distancing and other SOPs are complied with at all times. - FMT
