All Lies Anwar Denies Signing Perikatan Harapan Mou

GE15 | Pakatan Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim denied claims he signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with his counterpart from Perikatan Nasional (PN) Muhyiddin Yassin to form a “Perikatan Harapan” coalition government.
Speaking to reporters this evening, Anwar stressed that such lies are being spread by certain quarters who know they will lose if there is healthy competition in this 15th general election (GE15).
“It initially started with (Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi) and myself. It’s all lies,” he said after meeting locals at a friendly football match this evening at Padang Meru Permai in Tambun, Perak.
He was referring to earlier allegations of cooperation with BN chairperson Zahid.
“These are all lies told by those who feel they will lose if there’s a healthy competition. Therefore, they use it.
“There will be many more, during the last few hours of the campaign period. A lot of slander by those who are morally bankrupt and desperate. So be careful and don’t trust such news.”
The PKR president was responding to a viral document allegedly signed by him and Muhyiddin dated Nov 13 to form “Perikatan Harapan”.
According to the MOU, Muhyiddin would supposedly lead as the prime minister for a period of two years from his swearing-in date before Anwar takes over and serves until the end of the government’s term.
Previously, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad - who is defending his Langkawi seat - claimed Zahid has plans to back Anwar as prime minister.
In exchange, Mahathir alleged that Anwar will free Zahid of his corruption cases in court.
This became “political ammunition” for both Mahathir’s GTA coalition and also PN during the initial stage of the campaigning period.
Both Zahid and Anwar brushed off Mahathir’s allegations, with the latter denying the existence of such a pact and demanding that his former coalition boss-turned-rival furnish proof.
Optimistic of attaining simple majority
Meanwhile, Anwar expressed optimism that Harapan will be able to secure a simple majority to form the government.
The Harapan prime ministerial candidate called on voters to give their mandate to the coalition to change the political landscape and address issues pertaining to corruption, mismanagement, and bad governance.
“God willing, I am optimistic that we will be able to make it.
“If you want to change the political landscape of decades of corruption, then you will have to give this alternative (Harapan) a reasonable chance.
“To secure a simple majority would be beneficial to the nation for stability.” - Mkini
