Akmal Slams Jaim Over Lack Of Tables Chairs For Religious School

In a TikTok video, Dr Akmal Saleh was seen visiting a classroom where the students were made to sit on the floor with low tables for their lessons.PETALING JAYA: Umno’s Dr Akmal Saleh has lambasted the Melaka Islamic religious affairs department (Jaim) over delays in the procurement of tables and chairs for a religious school in Merlimau.
In a TikTok video, Akmal, who is the Merlimau assemblyman, was seen visiting a classroom where the pupils were sitting on the floor with low tables for their lessons.
When asked how long they have been taking their lessons on the floor, the pupils told him “it has been a year”.
Akmal then got into a heated argument with a Jaim officer on the lack of tables and chairs despite allocations being approved for the school.
“Allocations were given in December last year and it’s been (about) five months since then. What have you been doing for the past five months?” the Merlimau assemblyman asked the Jaim officer.
Akmal added that parents have been complaining to him that their children were sitting on the floor during lessons.
“Jaim’s bureaucracy is the main reason why the children are not able to get their tables and chairs. If you want the job, do it properly and don’t be lackadaisical about it. This is why these kids are not able to get their basic needs,” he said.
“If you as a Jaim officer can’t work for the people of Melaka, then just leave and we will find someone else who can do the job,” he said.
Akmal was then heard saying he would purchase the 34 tables and chairs for the pupils by next week. - FMT
