Akmal Gets Kk Mart To Remove Banner Featuring Malacca Cm

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has persisted with his actions against a convenience store chain by contacting local government authorities to get a KK Mart outlet in Malacca to remove a poster featuring Malacca Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh.
In a brief post on Facebook, he said that he and his supporters had asked KK Mart to put up an apology banner, but they had chosen to put up another one, a “Jualan Insan Rahmah” (Rahmah sale) touting Visit Malacca Year 2024.
Akmal claimed that the poster bearing the likeness of Rauf was put up without permission.
“We asked them to put up an apology banner. But another banner was raised instead.
“They raised the banner without permission from the Housing and Local Government Ministry or getting the permission of the chief minister to include his picture.
“So we asked the ministry to carry out enforcement in accordance with the existing laws,” said Akmal.
He also posted pictures of a poster that was initially on display in front of a KK Mart being taken down by authorities.
“You can make any sale, sell cheap items anyhow. We will stick to our stand permanently, which is to boycott KK Mart.
“We have dignity that cannot be bought!!” said Akmal, thanking the Malacca chapter of the Housing and Local Government Ministry for its quick action.
Socks scandal
Akmal has been at the forefront of the boycott KK Mart movement which emerged last week when images of the Miranosock socks being sold at the Bandar Sunway outlet of the KK Mart went viral on social media.
Following the uproar, KK Mart issued an apology to all its customers, particularly the Muslim community, and confirmed that immediate action had been taken to halt the sale of the socks.
Akmal has been vocal about the issue, urging a boycott against KK Mart should the chain fail to display banners apologising for the incident.
The furore about the socks has seen many political leaders weigh in. Two men were also charged with making insulting online comments over the issue and were given jail sentences and hefty fines.
The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court sentenced Chiok Wai Loong, 35, to six months in jail and fined him RM12,000.
Similarly, in Kota Kinabalu, a Muslim convert was sentenced to six months in jail and fined RM15,000 for posting an offensive Facebook comment about Islam concerning the socks. - Mkini
