Ain Called To Give Statement In Probe Into Lewd Comments

(Saiful Nizam pic)PETALING JAYA: Ain Husniza, the teen who spearheaded the #MakeSchoolASaferPlace movement, was called in by police to give a more detailed statement regarding explicit comments made online about her.
This follows a report lodged by her and her father, Saiful Nizam, at the Kajang district police headquarters recently in relation to posts on blogging platform Tumblr made by a former classmate of Ain’s.
Saiful said they went to the police headquarters at about 10pm yesterday and were there for about two hours, leaving at about midnight.
“She was asked about the whole incident from the start, how she got to know about the Tumblr account and about the perpetrator.

“Ain was accompanied by me and my wife. There was no woman officer at all,” he told FMT.
Saiful also said Ain was “a bit upset” and exhausted with the police investigation.
“Some of it was quite frustrating (and) emotionally and mentally challenging,” he said.
It was reported that the suspect had shared screenshots of the offending posts. In one, he shared an explicit sexual fantasy regarding Ain.
Saiful also shared other lewd posts that he claimed were written by the same person.
Police recently confirmed they were investigating explicit comments made online about Ain.
In a statement, Kajang district police said the offending post on Tumblr was removed after Ain contacted the sender, who police described as a classmate at her former school.
However, Saiful shared a screenshot of a series of tweets over the last few days, which he alleged had been posted by the same boy, each describing lewd fantasies.
No arrest has yet been made but the case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 233.
For offences under Section 509, which refers to insulting one’s modesty, those convicted face up to five years in jail or a fine, or both.
Those convicted under Section 233 may be sentenced to up to a year in jail, or a fine not exceeding RM50,000, or both. - FMT
