Lam Ah Choy shows photos of his son Kim Ming, who went missing six years ago.PETALING JAYA: A father’s love knows no bounds and all Lam Ah Choy wants is to hold his son once again and know that he is all right.
It has been six years since his son, Kim Ming, then five years old, went missing from a restaurant in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.
“We don’t know if he’s being properly cared for, if he’s even eating well or if he has been going to school. This is all heartbreaking for me,” Ah Choy, 63, said, his eyes brimming with tears.
He holds onto the memories and the occasional dreams of his son, whom he fondy calls Ah Ming, but the heartache when he wakes up is almost too much to bear.

Refusing to give up hope of getting his son back, Ah Choy recently handed over a memorandum to the police, urging them to form a task force to investigate his disappearance.
He has also filed 12 reports but has yet to get any official updates.
Kim Ming is believed to have been abducted while having breakfast at a restaurant at Wisma Indah on Jalan Tun Razak.
“I went to my car to pick up an item and when I came back, he was gone,” Ah Choy told FMT.
Father and son during an outing.Frustrated at the lack of progress, he is conducting his own investigation into his son’s disappearance and trying his best to get the word out about the missing boy.
He hopes that his efforts will not be in vain and that Kim Ming will one day come across media reports of his disappearance and look for him.
“Ah Ming is still a kid, so I do not think he is aware of what is happening, but I am sure he is looking for his father (Ah Choy) unless people have told him that I have already died or that I don’t want him anymore,” he said.
Although Kim Ming is approaching his teenage years, Ah Choy is confident his son will not forget him.
Ah Choy says he did everything for Kim Ming, including changing his diapers, bathing, clothing and feeding him.“I changed his diapers, bathed him, clothed him, fed him – I did everything. Even his mother couldn’t get him to eat and he would throw a tantrum, but not if I asked him (to eat),” he said.
Ah Choy says he will never forgive the people who took his son away.
“This has been (an) unfair (ordeal) for him, so I hope those who took my son away will be caught and punished,” he said. - FMT
