Agc Urged To Cite Guan Eng Syed Saddiq For Contempt
A complaint of “sub judice” has been lodged against Lim Guan Eng, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, and Syed Saddiq’s lawyer.PETALING JAYA: Police reports are believed to have been lodged against former ministers Lim Guan Eng and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Syed Saddiq’s lawyer for making comments about their trials on criminal charges.
The two reports were lodged at the Putrajaya police station, according to a source close to the matter. FMT has contacted Putrajaya police for confirmation and comment.
Both reports said the trials of the two former ministers were “sub judice”, a legal rule that cases in the process of being heard by a judge are prohibited from discussion by the public.
The complainant urged the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) to take action against Lim, Syed Saddiq and his lawyer for contempt of court.

The first report, against Lim, was based on a news article today in which Lim was quoted as saying that the testimony of a witness in his corruption trial was made up and was part of a political conspiracy.
Lim, a former chief minister of Penang, is on trial on charges of using his position to ask for a 10% cut of the profits from a proposed RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel project in the state.
He is also accused of accepting RM3.3 million in kickbacks from a businessman, and of dishonestly misappropriating RM208.7 million worth of state land to two companies.
A second report was lodged against Syed Saddiq and his lawyer, named only as “Lim”. The report said the lawyer had claimed in a YouTube video that the charges brought against Syed Saddiq were politically motivated.
The complainant said the lawyer’s comments could interfere with the judicial process as the trial had yet to begin at the time.
Syed Saddiq, MP for Muar, is a former youth and sports minister and Bersatu youth leader. He is on trial on four charges of criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of funds, and money laundering of more than RM1 million belonging to Bersatu’s youth wing. - FMT
