After Mic Speaks Out Ex Mca Veep Takes Swipe At Wee
A former MCA leader hit out at party president Wee Ka Siong, following the MIC’s declaration that it is ready to “negotiate with any party” for its future and the Indian community’s well-being.
In a Facebook post, former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker took aim at Wee for keeping mum in the wake of the remarks by MIC president SA Vigneswaran.
“MIC president has spoken, saying that MIC will reach out and be open to other parties - but MCA president Wee Ka Siong’s silence is deafening,” said Ti.
Vigneswaran’s comments came in response to MIC deputy president M Saravanan saying that the Indian-based party was being sidelined by the federal government, which sparked a war of words involving DAP and Umno leaders.
Although Vigneswaran said MIC had not received invitations from other coalitions, he made it clear the party would act in its own interest moving forward.
ADSMeanwhile, Ti also criticised DAP of “staggering hypocrisy”, accusing the Pakatan Harapan component party of abandoning its reform agenda by partnering with Umno in the current government.
“Remember when DAP leaders shouted ‘No to Umno’s corruption’?
“Today, they willingly queue up at Umno HQ for government briefings, legitimising the very symbols they once fought against.
“Where’s the institutional integrity DAP promised?” said the former deputy youth and sports minister.
Ti was referring to a Friday event where more than 30 DAP MPs, including top leaders such as secretary-general Anthony Loke, adviser Lim Guan Eng and vice-chairperson Chong Chieng Jen, attended a briefing on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Umno headquarters.
The session was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Also present were Umno vice-president Johari Ghani and secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Plantation and Commodities Deputy Minister and DAP policy director Chan Foong Hin, who was at the event, said the visit signified political maturity and reflected the government’s commitment to bipartisan collaboration.
However, Ti dismissed this notion, saying: “DAP isn’t changing the system - they’re just finding a comfortable seat inside it.”
Meanwhile, Zahid had reaffirmed last month that both MIC and MCA remain key components of BN, and that there had been no indication MCA would be exiting the coalition. - Mkini
