6 Tips To Fight Covid 19
6 Tips on How to Boost your Health to fight COVID-19
The World Health Organization recently released their tips on how to boost your health to fight Covid-19 and I wanted to share it with you.
There are a total of five tips and we’ll go over them one by one. (with one of my own at the end)
1️⃣. Eat a healthy and nutritious diet, which helps your immune system to function properly.
I know that we’re struggling with shortages and we’re not sure when our supplies will be consistent, but this is the most important tip of all. And this means that we should avoid eating only instant noodles, instant coffee, and canned goods unless we don’t have any other choice. A complete diet has a lot of vegetables, and some meats and carbs (like rice). If we can’t have a good amount of vegetables, I’d recommend taking multivitamins. This is more expensive than just having rice and sardines, but if there’s anything we should invest in, especially now – it’s our health. Health is wealth!
2️⃣. Limit your alcohol consumption, and avoid sugary drinks.
Yes, that means we should avoid things such as beer, Coca cola, instant coffee, and even most of the commercial juice packs that you can buy like Zest-o, Tang, and Milo. Even though a lot of the juices tout that they’re high in vitamin-c, what they don’t tell you is that they’re extremely high in sugar. So they actually do more harm than good. Stick with water or coffee and tea without added sugar.
3️⃣. Do not smoke, as smoking damages your lungs and can increase your risk of developing severe disease if you become infected with Covid-19. The Coronavirus primarily attacks the lungs, and smoking damages and makes your lungs weaker. So don’t smoke.
4️⃣. Exercise & Stay Active. WHO recommends 30 minutes of physical activity a day for adults, and one hour a day for children.
If you aren’t on lockdown, go on a walk or a run while maintaining social distancing. If you cannot leave the house, you can lookup exercise video on YouTube or find home exercise stuff. As we’re on quarantine, the tendency is for us to just stay on the couch or stay in bed. Stand up and exercise to get stronger. If you’re working from home, be sure to schedule walking breaks every 30 minutes and walk around the house for a bit.
5️⃣. Talk to others. The WHO said its normal to feel stressed, confused and scared during this pandemic. Talking to people you know and trust can help. Rather than just chatting I’d recommend either talking in person or calling people. It definitely helps.
6️⃣. Schedule distractions. My own recommendation is to schedule distractions. If we just sit around on social media all day, we become more paranoid, scared, and angry. Play video games, read books, watch Korean telenovelas on Netflix, or take online courses (like the VABootcamp). Things that can take our mind off the craziness that is going on in the world.
So there you have it, five tips on how to boost your health to fight the Coronavirus.
Help if you can, stay at home, and stay safe everyone!
