4 11 Percent Of Civil Servants Are Indians Armizan

PARLIAMENT | About 4.11 percent of over one million officers and staffers in the civil service sector are Indians, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) Armizan Mohd Ali said this is according to staffing data based on warranted posts, excluding those in the army and police force.
“The number of Indian officers and staff who are serving in the public sector, until December 31 last year, is 41,117 of the total number of 1,001,012 civil servants.
“This data is subject to updates by users and officials,” Armizan (above) said.
The minister said this in a written reply to M Saravanan (BN-Tapah) who asked the prime minister to state the number of Indian officers and staff currently serving in the public sector and its percentage compared to the total number of public servants.
However, Armizan, in the brief reply, did not go into the details of the other races in the civil service.
In February, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy took to social media to suggest that the Malaysian public service has been "ossified" and needed to undergo reform.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P RamasamyWhile urging Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to reform the public service, Ramasamy said Anwar needed to break the monopoly policy of Malays that was established during former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s era.
Anwar said the government would not take into consideration the call for reforms to break the Malay domination in the civil service because the government did not view the matter as an issue.
Meanwhile, the Public Services Commission of Malaysia (PSC) stressed that there is no racial discrimination in the recruitment of civil servants in this country and that Malaysian citizens have equal opportunity to be considered in open and fair competition.
PSC said the method of appointing civil servants is transparent and based on the candidate’s merit and competence, adding that no hiring quota was set for a particular race or ethnicity. - Mkini
