3r Investigations No Feedback Yet Bukit Aman
Police have yet to receive any feedback from the Attorney-General's Chambers regarding the status of their 3R (race, royalty, religion) investigation papers (IPs) against former prime ministers Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
According to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, all police findings into the cases were submitted to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) last year.
"We have submitted all the IPs. There has been no feedback so far," he told a press conference in Klang earlier today.
"Many times after police submitted our (investigation papers) to the DPP, people would ask what the outcome of the cases was.
"The thing is, we have to wait for further instruction from the DPP," Shuhaily added.
Last year, the police launched separate investigations against Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Hadi over their speeches for allegedly touching on the 3R issues.
All the cases were probed by a police special team, which Bukit Aman had set up to ensure speedy investigation on all cases involving the 3Rs.
Controversial remarks
In September last year, Muhyiddin was probed for a controversial fatwa speech saying it was haram to vote for a Pakatan Harapan candidate during the Pulai by-election campaign.
According to Sinar Harian, the speech in question was delivered in Simpang Jeram on Sept 3 where Muhyiddin allegedly said Malays have lost political power and control of the federal government.
Hadi was investigated over his claims against DAP in July, alleging that the party intends to retain the meaning of Islam in the Federal Constitution based on the British colonialists’ interpretation, which upholds liberalism and freedoms espoused by Western countries.
Meanwhile, Mahathir was investigated for allegedly insulting the royal institution. - Mkini
