Dewan Ulama Pas minta kerajaan pusat tiru langkah kerajaan Kedah tidak perbaharui lesen judi. Mengapa ulama tak ingat nak suruh kerajaan pusat masa Mahiaddin dan Ismail Sabri jadi PM batalkan lesen judi.
Bagus juga bila Anwar jadi PM para ulama Pas jadi sedar diri baru ingat halal dan haram. Masa duduk dalam kerajaan Pas sendiri lupa untuk hapuskan judi bahkan sokong judi macam nak rak. Bagus juga Anwar jadi PM ia menyedarkan banyak orang tentang dosa dan pahala.- mso
Putrajaya should not be proud of reducing the number of “special draws” for 4D lottery numbers and instead be committed to eradicating gambling completely, said PAS’ ulama wing. In a statement today, ulama wing head Ahmad Yahya (above) urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to emulate the PAS-led Kedah government’s decision to close all number-betting outlets in the state.
“The PAS ulama wing urges Putrajaya to show the same political will. They should not just be proud of reducing the number of draws while gambling premises are still allowed to operate.
“There must be policies to educate the public based on religious teachings. There is no evidence that gambling is good for society. It is an illusion,” he said.
Yesterday, all number-betting shops in Kedah were forced to close as their business licences - which are controlled by the local authorities - were not renewed.
One of Anwar’s earliest policy decisions was to cut down the number of “special draws” from 22 to just eight. All number-betting operators in Malaysia conduct “normal draws” on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
In 1999, Putrajaya introduced the “special draw” on Tuesdays to raise tax collections. This was conducted 22 times a year and became an important source of revenue, generating around RM200 million.
The first Pakatan Harapan administration reduced the number of “special draws” to 11 in 2019 and eight in 2020. However, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government quietly brought it back to 22 in 2021.
When reducing the number of “special draws” after taking power, Anwar claimed some gambling operators funded PN’s GE15 war chest. - mk
The religious party is a very hypocritical one? When they were in power...have 22 draws...once out...none? . These racists are just shameless n unbelievable. - lipdah
How about no child marriages Pas, if you think that gambling is bad. What about corruption, not so bad in your eyes? - Anon two
When 4D is part and parcel of the activities of non Muslims, just leave it as it is. It has been there for years no need to gain political mileage from it.After all taxes from 4D is used to fun the government expenditure for years. - picture
Tak nak tutup hotel2 kah...?
Don't worry about 4D betting shops. Very soon, 4D can be bought using app in handphone. One of the 4D company is already doing it. There is no way to close 4D betting when online app is available. Technology has evolved in the way business can be carried out. 4D companies are way ahead in their business strategy to mitigate any moves to close their outlets unless the NFO licence is withdrawn. - Oct
PAS should not demand for 4D to be banned altogether without offering any viable alternative on how to control black market gambling (please dont talk about cutting off hands of gamblers or else many, including many PAS supporters, wont have any hands left). On the other hand, 4D allows the government to curb black market gambling that otherwise will inevitably mushroom, and the taxes collected from 4D operations go a long way to help fund essential government programs. Please dont forget that the common cock fighting, fish fighting or betting on who will win soccer matches or who will win the election are some of the endless forms of gambling, so where does PAS draw the line?) or how to raise taxes lost when 4D is banned. - I am a Malaysian
3 reasons why Muhyiddin doesn’t want to be Opposition leader…
More than a month following the events of the 15th general election (GE15), veteran lawmaker Lim Kit Siang continues to raise the question why Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is not the Opposition leader.
“Why is Muhyiddin not the Parliamentary Opposition leader? Is he retiring from politics?” the former Iskandar Puteri MP questioned.
“The answer is ‘no’ as [Muhyiddin] has not given up on the opportunity to become prime minister again and this is why he is not vacating his position as Bersatu president and PN chairman to give way to someone else to lead both political organisations.”
Lim said there were “at least three” reasons why the Pagoh MP does not want to become the Opposition leader.
“He does not want to be confronted in Parliament on three issues. First, he was the first backdoor prime minister of Malaysia who did not dare to test his legitimacy with a vote of confidence in Parliament,” he noted.
Lim also cited Muhyiddin’s move to “illegally and unconstitutionally suspend Parliament” citing a COVID-19 emergency on Jan 12, 2021 as well as his “abysmal failure” in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic which had resulted in the country having the “longest COVID-19 wave in the world” as reasons for the move.
“When Muhyiddin suspended Parliament and [advised the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to declare] a state of emergency to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 138,224 COVID-19 cases and 555 COVID-19 deaths,” he remarked.
Lim noted that six months later when Muhyiddin resigned and the Emergency ended, there were over 10 times more COVID-19 cases and 24 times the COVID-19 deaths to reach nearly 1.5 million COVID-19 cases and over 13,000 COVID-19 deaths. “Can any other political leader do worse?” he questioned.
Lim further threw shade at the former prime minister for urging the Government to take immediate action to ensure that the people are protected from the new COVID-19 variant that has been detected in several countries.
“While his point is valid, the question that immediately arises is whether Muhyiddin is the person qualified to talk about the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said sarcastically. – focusmalaysia
