Federal Territories Perhilitan director Ishak Muhammad has advised the public to stay clear of the area until the crocodile is safely captured.
"Efforts are underway to monitor the surrounding area where the crocodile, believed to be at least three metres long, was last seen.
"Based on videos of the animal, we suspect it is the same crocodile spotted recently near Masjid Jamek," he told the New Straits Times today.
With the assistance of the Civil Defence Force, a boat has been deployed to monitor the river near the location of the sighting.
"Together with the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC), we have set up a trap to capture the reptile, which we believe has strayed from its natural habitat. The public should avoid any activities near the river," he added.
On Feb 8, Perhilitan had gone on high alert after a viral video surfaced showing a crocodile in a river near Masjid Jamek.

Perhilitan's director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim confirmed the sighting and stated that warning signs would be installed in the area.
The video, originally posted by user aminjayxll on TikTok, showed the rivers surrounding Masjid Jamek, before panning to reveal the exposed snout of the crocodile beneath the waterline.
Earlier, on Feb 5, another video surfaced on social media showing a massive crocodile emerging from the waters of Sungai Klang.
The clip, posted by user @pamugkas2579 on TikTok, captured the eight-foot reptile slowly rising to the surface near the Klang Mosque, just beneath a flyover. - NST
