3 Flood Relief Centres Opened In Perak

As of 9pm, over 180 have been placed in temporary relief centres in Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS) as well as Manjung.
The Perak disaster management committee secretariat said in a statement that in Manjung, the Sekolah Sungai Batu relief centre in Pantai Remis was opened at 8pm, housing 180 victims from 44 families from Kampung Sungai Batu and Kampung Nelayan.
Another relief centre in Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai, Pengkalan Baru, was opened at 8.30pm. The number of evacuees has yet to be determined.
Similarly, the Simpang Halt Community Hall relief centre in LMS was opened at 7.30pm, but details on the number of flood victims have not been provided.
Meanwhile, the irrigation and drainage department reported that the water level of Sungai Kampar at Kampung Baru Kuala Dipang, Kampar, has reached the alert level at 22.5m. The normal level is 21.41m.
Separately, the meteorological department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds warning for several areas in Perak, Pahang, Sarawak and Sabah, as well as for Perlis, Kedah, Penang and the Federal Territory of Labuan, until 1am, Oct 24.
MetMalaysia in a statement said the affected areas in Perak include Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak; while in Pahang, it involves Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Maran and Kuantan.
“In Sarawak, the areas involved are Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Sarikei (Julau), Sibu, Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Kapit, Bintulu and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi).”
In Sabah, the warning covers Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Tawau, Kunak, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, Tongod and Kinabatangan. - FMT
