115 New Covid 19 Cases New Cluster In Klang
COVID-19 | Malaysia has reported 115 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours up to noon today, bringing the grand total to 11,034 cases while the number of cases that are still active reached 1,011.
Of the 115 cases, 112 of them are locally acquired cases while three are imported cases.
Sabah accounts for 98 of the local cases, while other states reported 11 cases linked to travel history in the Sabah.
This includes a new cluster in Klang, Selangor. Of the 10 cases reported in the state today, six are from the newly identified Jalan Apas cluster there.
In a statement today, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the index cases (Case 10782 and Case 10783) are husband and wife who travelled in Tawan and Semporna, Sabah, from Sept 13 to Sept 16, 2020.
Both reported symptoms of fever, cough, and cold on Sept 18 and sought medical treatment on the following day, and were then referred to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang on Sept 24.
They tested positive for the disease on Sept 26 and were admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital. Contact tracing led health officials to detect the six cases reported today, bringing the total in this cluster to eight cases.
Thus far, 66 people have been screened in this cluster, of which two are still pending results.
Apart from the Jalan Apas cluster, the four other cases reported in Selangor today were also detected when screened upon returning from Sabah.
Kedah, Malacca, Terengganu, and Labuan, meanwhile, each reported one local case.
There are 54 cases that have recovered from the disease and have been discharged today.
No new deaths have been reported, thus the death toll remains unchanged since yesterday at 134.
However, there are still eight Covid-19 patients being treating in intensive care units, of whom five require ventilator support.
