Zuraida Hopes New Ag Will Expedite Adib S Murder Trial
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin expressed hope that the new Attorney-General Idrus Harun will expedite the court trial of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim's murder case
Zuraida said under the previous attorney-general, Tommy Thomas, the trial took a little while to materialise
"The trial of Adib case will go on, it's just that I think, at that time under the old AG, he took a little while to start the trial
"So I hope we can expedite this and I will follow up with the new AG (to get the latest update)," she told the media
Muhammad Adib Mohd KassimZuraida was met after the clock-in session on the first day of working as the housing and local government minister under Perikatan Nasional government
She held the same post in the previous Pakatan Harapan government
Idrus Harun, who is the former Federal Court judge, was appointed as the new AG on March 6. He replaced Thomas who resigned last month. Thomas had faced contempt proceedings over his comment regarding Adib, but the Shah Alam High Court subsequently set the matter aside. In September last year, the Coroner's court which conducted the inquest into Adib's death ruled that his death was a result of a criminal act
Adib, a member of the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department's Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS), was seriously injured during the Seafield Temple riots on Nov 27 last year
He died on Dec 17 at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur. - Mkini
