Zahid Nobody Forced Khairy To Go To Sungai Buloh He Asked For It
GE15 | BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that no one forced incumbent Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin to contest Sungai Buloh.
Instead, the health minister had asked for the parliamentary seat himself.
"KJ asked to be given the opportunity to contest there and I fulfilled his request," Zahid said when met by the media after visiting the Titiwangsa election operations room yesterday.
The Umno president said this when asked about BN's decision to place Khairy in an area that is not the coalition's stronghold, Berita Harian reported.
Khairy was nominated for the Sungai Buloh seat in the 15th general election and will be facing Pakatan Harapan’s R Ramanan.
BN’s Khairy JamaluddinRamanan is making his debut after incumbent R Sivarasa was dropped for medical reasons.
Khairy switched constituencies to make way for Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan to contest in the Rembau parliamentary seat.
KJ’s PM ambition
Asked about Khairy's stated ambition to become prime minister at some point in the future, Zahid said it was too early for him to comment on the matter.
"That depends on the results of the next election, not this election," he said.
Zahid also denied that BN has no money to fund its campaigns but did admit that it does not have a lot of financial resources.
"As soon as I stepped into the border of Wangsa Maju, I saw that there are still a lot of BN flags flying. Even though it is full of hardships, we will continue to campaign with the capabilities we have," he added. - Mkini
