Yoursay Muhyiddin Is Pm But Political Crisis May Not End

YOURSAY | ‘Everybody fought so hard to avoid an election, but inexplicably they all contributed to it.’Agong appoints Muhyiddin as 8th prime ministerDavid Dass: It is done. Whether this is the government we wanted or not, we have to accept the decision of the king. In his opinion, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin had the support of the majority

It was an awkward scramble and the winner was he who was first to the post with the requisite majority
We hope that the government of Muhyiddin will act rationally and responsibly. We hope that some aspect of what former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad hoped to achieve through his unity government will be adopted by Muhyiddin and that some members of the cabinet will be his colleagues from his recent past
We have had enough of the politics of race and hate. It is time for reconciliation and peace. If there is to be a battle, let it take place in GE15. For now, the losers in this contest should settle down to being a responsible opposition and play a check and balance role
Hopefully, some of the reforms recommended by the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) will be accepted and implemented for the good of the nation
Fair Play: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s (YDPA) opinion could be based on an outdated list of MPs supporting Muhyiddin. There are two possibilities
Mahathir/PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim could seek an audience with YDPA to show that they have the support because their list represents the latest information. The 'error' could still be rectified if Muhyiddin is not sworn in yet. This means Mahathir/Anwar must seek an audience tonight
If not, the final battle has to be fought when a vote of no confidence is taken in Parliament. If Muhyiddin loses, YDPA would have no other choice but to dissolve Parliament. The biggest irony is this. Everybody fought so hard to avoid an election, but inexplicably they all contributed to it
Perhaps Muhyiddin would be etched in Malaysian political history as the shortest-serving prime minister when a vote of no confidence is taken in the next Parliament sitting on March 9
The excitement now has edged up to the next level. Those with a weak heart, better take care of your health
Anonymous_1543386425: Yes, Muhyiddin will now face a confidence motion in parliament in a week’s time. If Mahathir has the numbers, Muhyiddin would fail the confidence motion and he should resign or advise the Agong to dissolve parliament (which is what Umno/PAS wanted)
But the Agong may instead appoint Mahathir as PM, who then faces a similar motion of confidence in parliament which Mahathir is likely to pass and thus saving the nation RM700 million and the risk of an election in an environment where a deadly virus is spreading
I pray that Agong would be blessed with wisdom and be guided to act in the interests of the nation
Asitis: With the horse-trading still going on in the background, this step by the Agong might only serve to prolong the issue. If Mahathir is successful in rallying MPs to his side, come March 9 when Parliament sits, PM8 will face a vote of no confidence
If he fails to get the confidence of the MPs then it's back to the palace again and all the ding-dong battle will begin again as the MPs change their mind by the hour. And not to mention, PM8 will then be the PM with the shortest term in office in the history of the country
But perhaps the palace is unhappy with Mahathir for prolonging the issue in the first place. Actually, had he not resigned as PM on Monday the Sheraton Move executed by former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali would have ended right there
All he had to do was to firmly say his Bersatu would not work with Umno/PAS. They may protest at first but they will eventually toe the line when their heads cool down. But he had to be a drama queen and resign as PM and Bersatu chairperson
OMG!: One thing I am damn happy about is that Mahathir has been given two tight slaps
First by the House speaker who rejected his request for a special session of Dewan Rakyat this coming Monday
And today, by the Agong who rejected Mahathir's putting himself forward as the 8th PM, after Pakatan Harapan again said they would support him
I hope this will be the end of Mahathir and he will now dwindle away like other useless old politicians
Stand For Truth: How Muhyiddin has the number is baffling especially if Warisan is supporting Mahathir. Only a vote of confidence when Parliament reconvenes will give legitimacy to PM8
Just Thinking Aloud: Has GPS already decided to support Muhyiddin? I thought they will meet on Sunday to do that
The earlier prediction of a snap election is now very likely. Remember to reject all the kleptocrats, racial and religious bigots and the betrayers in the event of a snap election
Deo Confidimus: This is indeed a very sad day. A leap year too, Malaysia has just gone back to the dark times
Listen to Leonard Cohen "You want it darker" - it epitomises the position Malaysia is in right now
Karma Is Just: What will be will be. The majority of Malays prefer a Malay Muslim-controlled government and the Muhyiddin government will be one
Since the Malays are the majority in this country, they should now be very happy. They deserved the government they wish or prayed for. The hated DAP is no more in government
Remember, karma is just. Man proposes, but karma disposes
AnotherKomentar: The parliament will vote on a motion of confidence. Either Muhyiddin gets the majority or he will recommend parliament be dissolved. Either way, Umno-PAS win
An election was stolen and the people screwed. The cast was set when Mahathir allowed the coup. Whether this was his miscalculation or nefarious scheme, the biggest loser is the whole nation called Malaysia
Democracy is entering its terminal phase and the country is now hijacked by crooks and the immoral
Anonymous 2413471460628504: Why is it so difficult to do the right thing? What is wrong with our politicians and by extension, so many Malaysians
So now corruption, stealing and grand larceny of the country's money are okay because alleged arrogance is the greater sin. We are screwed as a nation if we cannot even see what is right or wrong, if we cannot weigh what sins are worse. - Mkini
