Yoursay Getting All Worked Up Over A Dead Man S Ashes
YOURSAY | ‘Dead men don't lie. Politicians do. Dead men don't create trouble. Many living politicians do.’Respect Chin Peng next-of-kin’s wishes - Annuar MusaSRMan: I am no fan of Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng but let's be rational over the historical events
The tripartite peace agreement signed in 1989 between Thailand, Malaysia and the CPM in Hat Yai, Thailand had among others required the CPM members to lay down their arms and pledged their loyalty to our country
In return, our country and Thailand had to allow the CPM members to live in a country of their choice, that is either in Malaysia or Thailand
The members of CPM and Thailand kept their side of the bargain, but did we? Did we honour the pact that was signed in black and white
While we can understand the feelings of some of wanting to become emotional over the return of the ashes, we should also ought to feel embarrassed by reneging on our promise
Anon Two: As part of the 1989 Hat Yai Peace Accord, Chin Peng was entitled to return and live in Malaysia
However, the Malaysian government nullified the agreement. So, do the right thing now, he is no threat
Hmmmmmmmm: It looks like some people in Pakatan Harapan have lost their way. When some racists or troublemakers start making some noise, the people in Harapan run around like a headless chicken and call for investigations into this or that
They don't pause for a moment to think about the issue and weigh the significance of that problem before acting
They need to realise that some things do not need a response because they are trivial. Just imagine getting all worked up over some dead person's ashes
Alipak: For once, Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa is talking sense. Let’s have some respect and compassion for the deceased
Allow Chin Peng to RIP (rest in peace). It’s time to move on and focus on more important issues affecting the country and the rakyat
Anonymous_1538808416: That was just Chin Peng’s remains being brought back and scattered in the jungle and in the sea
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that. The person who questioned this via Facebook is more guilty as he claims that he did not steal billions of the rakyat’s money
Headhunter: It's a done deal so get on with it. There's nothing anyone can do to recover his ashes
You politicians have nothing else to do? Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak is a fine one to talk about the economy
Who's the person facing charges for embezzling rakyat’s money
TheTruthPls: According to Najib, a dead person can heighten racial tension in this country. What kind of statement is this? Perhaps, this is just a means to direct people's attention away from all his corruption trials
He is a disgrace to his alma mater St John’s Institution
Artchan: Long ago, when they disallowed it, I knew his ashes will be brought in someday
How are you going to seize or detect Chin Peng’s ashes? But, on the other hand, we bring home terrorists and even freed them
What a joke and double standards. And MCA in 2013 even appealed to allow Chin Peng’s ashes to return…Clever Voter: The Home Ministry’s reaction is one of paranoia. The feeling of insecurity is obvious
Dead men don't lie. Politicians do. Dead men don't create trouble. Many living politicians do
There are more important matters, such as problems facing refugees and illegal immigrants and human rights abuse, among others
Chin Peng’s ashes are scattered in the ocean and in the jungles. If the government is afraid of ghosts, then rightly so, the guilt is everywhere
The reality is not about Chin Peng being a communist but it is all about ego. One has to put aside such misplaced behaviour. Be dignified and move on
Mosquitobrain: We are a first-world nation with a third-world mentality
The mind-boggling Harapan government allows an Indian fugitive who is wanted for money laundering and terrorism-related activities to roam freely in our streets but is crowing over the ashes of a dead man
Anonymous_1569838758835.84941569838051220: Hypocrites
They had no issues when the then government led by Najib Razak brought back the bodies of two notorious terrorists killed by Indonesian authorities - Azahari Husin and Noordin Mohammad Top - to be buried in Malaysia
Appum: Annuar said, “Chin Peng and all the others are the same once they die.”What does this show? It shows you see more clearly when you are out of power. Power clouds your better judgement
Indeed, aren't you going to be the same once you die? Everyone’s body goes through the same process
Anonymous_1371547149: Such pettiness from the home minister. Are the ashes of Chin Peng more dangerous than Zakir Naik, the fugitive you are harbouring
Can the ashes of Chin Peng be more dangerous than the convicted homegrown terrorist Yazid Sufaat, who is now roaming freely with only an electronic monitoring device to track him
Maybe the home minister thinks that Chin Peng may rise from the dead
Kita Anak Malaysia: Can Chin Peng’s ashes in Malaysia turn maleficent
What has this got to do with racial tension as Najib talked about? The Chinese worship Chin Peng? What an illogical statement. - Mkini
