Conditional MCO for KL, S'gor, Putrajaya and Sabah
Citi: It is time for the rakyat to buck up and cooperate. The movement control order (MCO) is not going to be effective if the rakyat are not playing their role.
There should also be a mechanism where the rakyat can contribute to the enforcement of MCO. There are many stubborn merchants at markets and food outlets who are not wearing masks.
GMan: What is the justification for the conditional MCO for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya, and not Kedah?
It looks like the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government is imposing the conditional MCO, not so much due to the coronavirus but for political reasons – perhaps for their own political survival?
The World Health Organisation does not advocate lockdowns as the primary means to control the virus. So it looks like the PN government is imposing the conditional MCO for their own hidden agenda.
Sentinel: Yes, why not Kedah?
The infections can be controlled with more targeted enforcement. Many restrictions were already in place but there was no compliance because strict enforcement wasn't done.
The government cannot enforce compliance on the political elite, so they punish the rakyat instead.
Anonymous273646429: Kedah is probably not on the list because most of the cases involved those in the Alor Setar prison, which is already under lockdown.
Century Egg: Indeed, the current government is to be blamed for all this mess – for taking over a legitimate government at the federal level and state level in Sabah in the midst of a pandemic.

MS: So, will gullible Malaysians be regaled once again by ‘Abah’ on the trials of Mak Kiah, her Rela husband, and the tribulations of Madam Lee, Haji Salleh, and Surjit Kaur?

Bobby O: Rotan should not be spared on the leader who is responsible for this new Covid-19 wave. This new wave has caused tremendous hardship to all Malaysians. We are all affected in one way or another.
When most of the situation was returning to normal, people were starting to rebuild back what they had lost, and then they are again forced into uncertainty.
Schools are closing, businesses are shuttered again, incomes have become uncertain, health has to be protected and all the restrictions introduced.
What have these politicians to lose? They are secured in their positions. Enjoying their positions and perks. Their incomes are not reduced but instead may even increase due to the positions they hold.
The sad reality is that ordinary people are ‘caned’ daily. They are arrested daily, summoned daily, and threatened daily for not following the standard operating procedure (SOP), while the 'anak-anak' (children) of the 'Abah' (father) are given special privileges.
Cyclonus: It's good that the government listens to feedback by the people and act on it. But, why did it not consult with them first before making a pronouncement on the rules?
First, it was a limit of 500 at weddings, then after some medical experts highlighted issues on social distancing in such events (duh) the rule was tightened to 250.
I could imagine the confusion it caused and even more, how can this even be enforced (one-meter social distancing, masks, temperature taking, record taking for tracing)? I attended an event three months ago and there was none of the above except for the online movement recording.
Actually, why even have such events? Just do the solemnisation (for Muslim weddings) and limit it to 25 people. Do the full-blown celebration some other day when we are done with Covid-19. Save money and potentially some lives as well.
Clever Voter: Many sacrifices have been made, yet we have contradictory policies. Social distancing will be difficult and given the happy occasion at weddings, it is difficult to enforce a strict SOP.
Many will never learn despite lessons highlighted elsewhere. In a health crisis such as this, it's discipline and order that must be put in place to protect public safety.
I Am Sabahan: Is it possible to self-rotan if the proposer himself breaks a rule?
Is it right that those who are supposed to be the authority/in the know and who themselves should have set an example for the rakyat be rotan 100 times more if they break the rule?

Shovelnose: The PN government is facing the worst possible scenario.
It has no backbone to make the hard calls required for health consideration because the knife-edge majority in Parliament it supposedly has will fall if any of the MPs disagree with, refuse to comply with, or just plainly ignore the SOP for physical distancing.
The government is held to ransom pandering to MPs on its side to keep them in line or fall.
Nasi Lemak: Our defence minister was the one who announced that people from home quarantine will be released if their results from their RT-PCR test at airports turn out negative. Is one disaster not enough?
