What To Do When Your 14 Year Old Daughter Gets Pregnant
FOR many families, or couples having trouble conceiving, a pregnancy is a most welcome announcement.
But for those parents out there who have young daughters, it is their worst nightmare. Regardless, when it happens it happens.
A problem no matter how shameful or taboo requires a solution as seen in a post on X where a netizen inquired about the possible solution to such a sticky predicament.
To top it off, the child described by the netizen was 14 years old, way below the legal age to provide consent.
The solution? Netizens by the droves overwhelmingly pressed for the parents to make a police report among the many other steps suggested.
Eiyla suggested that they make a police report first before sending the child to the hospital for an examination.
“Usually she will be referred to several departments of expertise including the Ministry of Health. Later they will take care of it from there,” said Eiyla.
Another netizen suggested that the best thing the parents could do is help the girl deliver the baby safely. She added that it was best to give the baby to someone else who really wanted to adopt a baby.
“Ask the daughter what she wants in her life? Of course to continue studying. If you want to make a police report, then report,” she said.
One netizen even provided a succinct step-by-step guide.
The perpetrator, however, received support from netizen Yes. It’s. Me who felt that it was inappropriate to vilify the male alone.
But looking at the replies, we can observe that a good majority disagrees with his opinion.
Towards the victim, Mekna said she couldn’t imagine the pain a 14 year old girl could take from childbirth as her pelvis are still narrow, adding that she may have to undergo caesarian.
“Just 14 years old. She has a long journey to go,” said misshippo.
Then there was a big hearted wnlzzm who volunteered to care for the child.
Reading through the comment section, we are yet again struck by the resourcefulness of the online community if not their dark humour.
Although the solutions are comprehensive despite the informal situation, we can all attest that the best solution is prevention rather than cure.
To the parents with daughters out there, let’s hope this does not become your reality. — Focus Malaysia
