Welfare Spiritual Needs Of The Selangor Indian Community Are In Good Hands Under Pakatan Harapan

A SIGNIFICANT meeting organised by the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) Malaysian Hindu Association took place last Sunday (April 21) to address the needs and concerns of the local temples as well as Indian community in the vicinity.
The timing of the event cannot be crucial as it not only coincided with the upcoming KKB by-election slated for May 11 but at a time when speculation abounds that there is much discontentment within the Indian community in that their well-being has been overlooked.
I was invited to attend and listen to the community’s perspectives in my capacity as a member of the Selangor State Executive Council for Human Resources, Poverty Eradication, Orang Asli Affairs and Minority.
In my speech, I expressed gratitude and appreciation to the local Hindu Sangam for providing a platform where individuals could voice their needs and concerns directly.
Along the way, I also emphasised the importance of continuous efforts to safeguard the welfare of the community beyond just election time.

It was also an opportune time for me to mention in passing that during his tenure, my predecessor YB V. Ganabatirau (now the Klang MP) had delivered more than 200 plots of land to various Hindu temples throughout Selangor.
In fact, very year without fail, the Selangor state government has also been giving out millions of ringgit to Hindu temples in the state. Above all else, the Selangor state government has on an annual basis been actively identifying the needs of Hindu temples across the state so that appropriate measures can be taken to address their respective needs.
The meeting also showcased the leadership of Kalaichelvan Singharavelu, the head of the local Hindu Sangam, who has played a pivotal role in coordinating the efforts of 19 temple administrations around KKB.
His dedication ensured that every voice is heard and that the recommendations from the temples are properly presented. This exemplifies the ability to bring the community together while fostering collaboration.
Overall, the meeting exemplified the commitment of the Selangor state government to work hand in hand with every Selangorian. By providing a platform for open dialogue and actively addressing the needs of the community, the state government aims to create a harmonious and inclusive society.
This dedication towards the welfare of the people is truly inspiring so much so that I came to realise that if one really cares about the welfare and well-being of others, one can be easily accepted into any community, in any situation. – April 23, 2024
