Wee Names 13 Ministers Who Once Pledged To Get Rid Of Lynas

(The Star) – In another jab at Pakatan Harapan’s broken promises, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong published a list of ministers who once pledged to get rid of Lynas when they were in the opposition.
“I thought only Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, Bentong MP Wong Tack and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng ‘fought for nature.’
“It turns out there were more. And they are all now ministers, ” he said on his Facebook page on Friday (Aug 16).

The dozen of Pakatan leaders whose name appear on his list are Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad and Human Resources Minister Minister M. Kulasegaran.
Also named are Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok, Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Communication and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa, who is in charge of Islamic affairs.
A collage of photos showing the ministers putting down their signatures for the pledge was also attached.
Earlier, Dr Wee had taken a swipe at the Pakatan government for renewing rare earth producer Lynas Malaysia’s licence despite earlier promises to get rid of the plant.
Dr Wee also lambasted Bentong MP Wong Tack for making inconsistent statements about Lynas while at the same time bowing to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s decision.
On Thursday, the Atomic Energy Licensing Board said in a statement that the government had given a conditional six-month licence to Lynas.
Among other things, Lynas will have to move its cracking and leaching process out of the country. This means that the company will have to put forward a plan to build a cracking and leaching facility overseas.
