“Up until August 2025, PTPK has approved loans and taken on active scholarship commitments worth RM524 million, involving 52,098 students and 306 training centres.
“This year alone, 21,947 students had their loans approved. All these students continue to receive their funds and living allowances as usual. The current living allowance has also been raised from RM400 to RM800 per student,” it said.
PTPK said “not a single student” whose loans have been approved have seen their funding stopped.
The corporation said its commitment to ensuring young Malaysians have access to relevant and inclusive skills training is proven by its approval of RM4.76 billion in loans since its establishment in 2001.
On Tuesday, the Federation of JPK Accredited Centres Malaysia claimed PTPK had stopped funding student loans and monthly living allowances several times, affecting thousands of students nationwide.
The coalition, representing over 350 private skills training centres in the country, claimed new students were not receiving their scholarships as promised, while existing students had not been receiving their allowances.
It called on the government to channel additional funds immediately to meet current demands, and proposed that RM500 million a year be set aside as a permanent allocation under the 13th Malaysia Plan specifically for PTPK. - FMT
