We Resigned Not Betrayed Party Nik Nazmi
Outgoing Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad defended himself and cabinet colleague, Rafizi Ramli, from accusations of betraying PKR.
This was after Nik Nazmi and Rafizi tendered their resignations as ministers yesterday following their defeat in the PKR polls.
“We resigned, but we will not betray the party,” he said in a brief post on X this afternoon.
The post comes amid undercurrents within PKR, painting Rafizi and his allies as being disloyal.
This included allegations that several MPs aligned with him would be withdrawing support from PKR president Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang - who was among those named as potential traitors - have rubbished such allegations.
Rafizi and Nik Nazmi chose to resign following their defeat in last week’s PKR polls, with Rafizi losing the deputy presidency and Nik Nazmi being bumped off the vice-presidents quartet.
This was despite Anwar saying before the polls that he would not reshuffle the cabinet based on who won or lost.
Rafizi, however, argued it was the principled thing to do.

Outgoing Economy Minister Rafizi RamliAnother Rafizi-aligned leader, Fahmi Zainol, is taking a different stance.
Fahmi - who is a Penang state executive council member - said he would not be quitting the state government despite losing in the PKR polls at both the national and division levels.
“When I am appointed, I must serve out my term.
“I will fulfil that responsibility. I have no plans to resign,” he was quoted as saying by FMT today.
Fahmi had failed in his bids to be elected into PKR’s central leadership council and be the Jelutong PKR division chief. - Mkini
