Amid the escalation between Iran and Israel, US President Donald Trump has urged Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to surrender unconditionally.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, he also warned Khamenei that “he knows where he is hiding”.
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘supreme leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.
“But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he said in a series of posts.
On June 15, Reuters reported that Trump vetoed Israel’s plan to kill Khamenei.
Quoting two US officials on condition of anonymity, they said top US officials have been in constant communications with Israeli officials in the days since Israel launched a massive attack on Iran in a bid to halt its nuclear programme.
They said the Israelis reported that they had an opportunity to kill Khamenei, but Trump was against it.
The officials would not say whether Trump himself delivered the message. However, Trump has been in frequent communication with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump claimed that he has complete control over Iranian airspace and extolled America’s superior military prowess over Iran’s capability.
“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.
“Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American-made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff’.
“Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA,” he added.
The US, a long-time ally of Israel, spends billions to arm the latter annually.
In March, the US used emergency authorities to deliver US$4 billion (RM17 billion) in military assistance to Israel. - Mkini
