Was Sangetha Successful In Rebuilding Her Boss Image
When party members show blind loyalty to their leader, especially one who has failed to fulfil the promises made at the last general election, these misguided people are allowing their non-performing leader to remain in power.
Sadly, the rakyat who put them in Putrajaya continue to suffer.
On July 16, PKR Women secretary Sangetha Jayakumar launched a digital campaign to boost her boss Anwar Ibrahim's public image and for party members to express support for their leader.
Party members were urged to select photographs of Anwar, either by himself or photos that they had taken with him, which would then be uploaded to their personal social media sites.
ADSThe task did not end there, as photos alone were insufficient, and those who participated were asked to accompany the images with one of the following five ready-made captions.

i) Anwar's leadership of Asean, the hope of the Malaysian people
ii) With a stronger economy, the world respects Malaysia
iii) Leading with principles, Anwar has raised Malaysia's voice on the world stage
iv) Stability, integrity, and diplomacy are trademarks of the Madani governance under Anwar
v) A progressive Malaysia and a strong Asean, the world recognises Anwar's leadership
Does Sangetha realise she is inadvertently posting fake news?
A leader who needs “artificial” help with his image should best stand down. Sangetha has made Anwar's position worse. Her puerile actions are superficial and also smack of desperation.
Boosting Anwar's image with photos and fancy captions will not cut it. People have lost trust, faith and confidence in Anwar.
Fictional tale
The only way the prime minister can look good in the rakyat's eyes is to implement the reforms he promised and help Malaysians overcome the cost of living crisis.
Instead, we read about him flitting all over the world, sorting out other people's problems instead of dealing with the mounting issues at home.
ADSHe cannot run away from his problems, and going overseas will only make him stop thinking about the issues briefly, whilst he is away.
The fictional tale Sangetha created about Anwar's leadership is laughable, if not for the seriousness of the various allegations about him.

She mentioned integrity as a hallmark of Anwar's leadership. Where does integrity fit in all the hullaballoo created by the prolonged vacancy of the post of chief justice, the negative comments, the speculation and allegations that accompanied Anwar's continuing silence and denials?
She claimed that her campaign was not connected to the government's recent announcement about Malaysians receiving an "extraordinary tribute".
Anwar is playing games with the rakyat. Keeping the rakyat on tenterhooks with his tribute announcement is wrong.
He is not in advertising, working on the next product launch, nor is he in the film industry, promoting a film that will soon be released. He is a poor communicator who dismisses our concerns.
Is Sangetha so naïve to believe she can rebuild Anwar's image? Was she put to it by Anwar's inner circle, or is she trying her best to get noticed?
A more effective drive should start with her taking stock of what is happening nationwide. Focus on the rakyat's unhappiness.
Peel away the veneer of prime ministership from Anwar, and what do we have?
Just another ageing politician with Umno-Baru DNA, clinging on to power, refusing to listen to the rakyat who put him up there, and like any doting father, is desperate to place his daughter in important positions whilst the opportunity exists.
Criticism from many
The embattled Anwar is facing criticism not just from the rakyat, the opposition, the Bar Council, India (for daring to mediate in the India/Pakistan conflict), but also from his own backbenchers.
Nine MPs from his own party, PKR, have demanded a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into the CJ scandal. Two ministers have resigned.
The opposition has demanded his resignation. Anwar created this controversy by his silence and delay. His inactivity helped fester speculation, anger and insecurity. People are furious that he likes to point his finger at the Agong over any unpopular decision.
He justifies his travels by claiming he has attracted several billion ringgits worth of investments.
Until the foreign investors start manufacturing in Malaysia by building factories and employing people, the memorandum of understanding between Anwar and the foreign firms is not worth the paper on which they were signed.
When Anwar's daughter made a surprise appearance at the lawyers’ "Walk to Safeguard Judicial Independence" march, focus immediately shifted to her, instead of the lawyers and their demands.

Nurul Izzah Anwar at the lawyers’ march on July 14This was a clever distraction, until people began to express their doubts about her motives. The CJ controversy had been simmering for months, and she had said nothing all the while. For a brief moment, her father's non-performance problems were forgotten.
Just like her dad, stripping away the layers will only uncover a middle-aged woman and not a discerning politician with an unmistakable cause which defined her role as a people's representative.
Then we have the added complication of the upcoming lawsuit with his former aide, which we are advised to refrain from commenting.
If anyone is to be blamed for Anwar's terrible reputation, then look no farther than Anwar himself. He is the architect of his own bad image, and Sangetha should know this.
The only way Anwar can rebuild his image is by working on the reforms. - Mkini
