Wagner S Strange Redeployment To Belarus
The latest news is that 8,000 of those rebellious Wagner "mercenaries" including their cantankerous boss Yevgeny Prigozhin have now been redeployed to Belarus or Belorussia or White Russia, just north of Ukraine. They are being housed in a 225,000 sq ft military camp about 20 miles from the border with Ukraine and within 100 miles from Kiev, the Ukrainian capital.
The red arrowhead indicates their approximate present location inside Belarus. As the name suggests Belarus has a close affinity for Russia (and Mr Putin).
That strange rebellion by the Wagner group, which lasted hardly 24 hours and where no one was killed or injured, is beginning to appear staged.
The Wagner group derives all their weapons and ammunition from the Russian armed forces. So they could not have had weapons and ammunition to carry out any type of "rebellion" that could have lasted even a day. They would not have had ammunition. Similarly they would not have had fuel for their trucks and "tanks" - all of which were provided by the Russian armed forces.
The story that they began driving the 1000 km from Rostov-on-Don to Moscow sounds even more implausible. They would have run out of gas. The whole "rebellion" ended in 24 hours anyway.
It got more strange. Yevgeny Prigozhin was "granted safe haven" in Belarus by president Alexander Lukashenko who is Vladimir Putin's closest ally. As well as a close friend of Yevgeny Prigozhin. Then Wagner's 8,000 rebel troops were also 'shipped on trucks together with their weapons' to that new military campsite inside Belarus. All this sorted out within 24 hours as well.
Who pays for all this? Belarus? Not likely.
And now 8,000 Wagner forces are located just about 30 km from the Ukraine border.
This picture below is from March 1st, 2022. Just about a week after the Russian invasion into eastern Ukraine. The Russian Army had already encircled Kiev the Ukrainian capital with almost zero resistance from Ukraine. You can see a huge, 65 km long Russian army convoy backed up on the roads just outside Kiev. These pictures are from the New York Times and Al Jazeera.
Then there was talk of a peace agreement and the Russians withdrew their Army from Kiev. The peace agreement did not take place.
Well the Wagner group is now located just across the border in the Belarus.
