Visitors Should Respect Obey The Country S Laws Says Union

Its president Khairil Niza Khairuddin said every country in the world have their own regulations and laws that need to be obeyed by foreign tourists or travellers.
"In the viral issue of the Singaporean couple who questioned the way an Immigration officer stamp their passports, the matter is being investigated by the department, so I think we should let the probe be completed, as there must be a reason why it is being carried out.
"However, in general, if we want to travel overseas, there are laws and regulations that we have to follow, even Singapore have their own laws.
"As foreigners, they have to respect and follow the regulations and laws of this country, don't simply question an officer's duties. If you fail to respect that, then further action should be taken," said Khairil Niza.
He was commenting on an incident involving a Singaporean couple who had questioned the way an Immigration officer stamp their passports upon entering Malaysia and ended up being banned from entering the country for six months.
Abdul Qayyum Rahim said the incident happened when he and his wife made their way to Johor Baru through the Tuas checkpoint (Second Link) on March 20.
Johor Immigration Department director Baharuddin Tahir said the matter is currently being investigated by the department.
In another matter, Khairil Niza reprimanded the move by certain parties, including politicians, who share videos at the Custom, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) on social media.
"I would like to remind everybody that BSI is a level one security area so any pictures or videos that are shared on TikTok and Instagram have to be controlled so that no laws are broken.
"For example, there are parties, including politicians, who took picture for certain purposes. This is not encouraged on the principle on respecting the law," said Khairil Niza.
He also said that the issues arising at BSI should not only be aimed at the Immigration Department as there are other agencies operating at the complex.
"You can't put all the blame and responsibilities on the department because there some 30 agencies at BSI.
"So don't point the finger only at the department and its staff. If all the agencies carry out their duties, there should not be any problems or issues." - NST
