MISFORTUNE comes in all shapes and sizes. And with the approaching monsoon season, strong wind and floods are added to the mix. For a better word, the rainy season is a time for people to stay at home to watch netflix. 
When it rains heavily and the wind is strong, misfortune for some people is a huge tree branch cracking and falling upon them as seen in this video post by netizen @update11111.
According to him, it happened at Taman Desa on Oct 6. The victim was a form five female student and the falling branch resulted in a serious injury.
Fortunately there was no shortage of helpers as can be seen in the passengers and drivers who came out to help despite the heavy downpour.

Netizen @AimanMMG who watched the video said they could claim insurance from the municipal council.
Also, @MichaelLwk pointed out that during the rainy season, the authorities should trim the trees to remove the potential falling hazards. “Do you want to wait until the tree falls then you will do such work? Now how will the student sit for SPM?” he said.

The brief video and comments within did not reveal the condition of the victim later on, but we can only pray for her speedy recovery. 
On a separate note, what can be worse than being struck by a tree? Being struck by a durian tree, of course. To recap, a senior citizen narrowly escaped death when a 50-year-old durian tree near his house was uprooted during strong winds in Kampung Gertak Sanggul, Bayan Lepas in 2021.
According to Astro Awani, Tan Liang Sin, 63, was in the kitchen when the tree fell, injuring him on the body and hands while his wife and daughter, who were in the living room, escaped unhurt.
“Following the incident, the victim was hit by pieces of debris and suffered cuts and scratches on his body and hands. He was treated at home,” said Bayan Lepas state assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz when contacted.
