It is up to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim if he wants to take legal action against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang over the latter's letter to global Islamic leaders, said PAS secretary-general
Takiyuddin Hassan said it is Anwar's right under the law to do so if he felt that the content of the letter was unfair to him
"From a legal perspective, he has the right to take action, if he feels that he was afflicted (by Hadi's letter)
"He can do it (take action) if he wants to, he also can decide not to. Up to him," he said when met by reporters in Kota Bharu today
Takiyuddin (photo) was asked to respond on the advice by Anwar's lawyer for the latter to file a civil suit against Hadi
Anwar had told the media yesterday that he was advised by his lawyer to sue Hadi over the latter, where Hadi had accused him of being a Freemason. Anwar, however, said that he was not inclined to do so. About two weeks ago, a letter in Arabic purportedly signed by Hadi and its translation had gone viral on social media. The PAS chief had purportedly attacked Pakatan Harapan and defended the Perikatan Nasional coalition in the document. Hadi had allegedly accused Anwar as being a member of the Freemason in the letter. However, Anwar has since denied the accusation and vowed to inform all Muslim leaders worldwide to dismiss the allegation
Meanwhile, when asked where would Hadi's office be located as the newly minted special envoy to the Middle East, Takiyuddin said it might be at the Prime Minister's Department in Putrajaya
He said this was because the position was not as the country's ambassador but as a special envoy for the prime minister
"It is no the same as ambassador to a foreign country. He is a special envoy for the premier
"He would work according to what is set by the PM. In my opinion, he would be ordered to go there (Middle East) whenever there is a task to do there
"Maybe he will be placed at the Prime Minister's Department," said Takiyuddin. - Mkini
