Umno Doesn T Bow Easily To Dap Reverberates After Ura Bill 2025 Shelved Pending Further Refinements

“URA (Urban Renewal Act) was not debated and not voted today (last day of the current Dewan Rakyat session yesterday [Aug 28]). Another victory for the people! Continue to resist.”
Little did PAS information chief and Pasir Mas MP Fadhli Shaari realise that it was not really the so-called tension from protests ahead of the second reading of the URA Bill at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday (Aug 28) that did the trick when he declared victory on his Facebook page.
While the opposition has been championing the URA cause since the Town and Country Planning Department first published a draft of the Proposed Urban Renewal Bill for public consultation on Feb 21, UMNO Youth claimed moral victory from an eleventh-hour intervention by the party’s deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan a.k.a. Tok Mat.
“Tok Mat represented the voice of all Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs to get the URA Bill 2025 shelved pending further studies and refinements,” declared the movement’s rightist chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh in a Facebook video. “Thank you, thank you and thank you to all BN MPs!”
Following the latest development, Housing and Local Government Minister (KPKT) Nga Kor Ming said the URA Bill 2025 will be amended to reflect a new consent rule with all re-development projects under the bill would now require the agreement of 80% of owners.
The DAP national deputy chairman further justified that seeking the consent of all owners was nearly impossible for many old flats as some owners could not be found or had unresolved legal issues while others might be stuck with unpaid loans or waiting for their title to be issued.
The Teluk Intan MP also dismissed claims that the law threatens Malay reserve land or village land, stating these plots of land will retain their original status.
UMNO victorious over DAP
“UMNO today proved that we’re not puppets of the Madani government nor puppets of PH (Pakatan Harapan), let alone bowing to DAP even though UMNO is in the government bloc,” penned UMNO Youth EXCO member Muhamad Nur Aizat Noor Azam a.k.a. Aizat Reko.
“UMNO MPs today strongly objected the efforts of the KPKT Minister from DAP alongside the Madani government to table the URA Bill (for second reading) in the Dewan Rakyat.
“As informed by the UMNO deputy president, all BN MPs agreed to object to this tabling – and should it ever be tabled – BN MPs will vote to reject the Bill from being approved.”
The Taman Bunga Raya (in Sungai Petani, Kedah) division UMNO Youth head further recounted that “in just one week, UMNO has confronted DAP twice in public” – the first was when Akmal “was hauled to court on a charge resulting from a police report made by a Penang DAP leader”.

“UMNO doesn’t bow easily to DAP. UMNO continues to uphold the principles of UMNO struggle,” reiterated the trained lawyer.
“We at the grassroots are proud to see UMNO bravely opposing DAP’s idealism despite facing various opposition and obstacles. Today, I am proud to stand as an UMNO man.” – Focus Malaysia
