Tycoon Asks Nga S Forgiveness After Blowing His Top On Advisory Post
Construction tycoon Koon Yew Yin.PETALING JAYA: Construction tycoon Koon Yew Yin today issued a public apology to Nga Kor Ming over an article he had written criticising the Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker for not defending him after his sacking from the Perak Economic Advisory Council (SEAC)
In a blog post, Koon said he had written the article against Nga after reading another report about his sacking from the SEAC
“When I saw the Perak menteri besar had published an article to sack me from the state advisory council, I blew my top and instantly wrote the piece to discredit YB Nga Kor Ming, who was in a position in the state assembly to defend me. Obviously, he did not defend me
“I am sorry for writing the piece. My one thousand apologies. I hope my public apology can encourage Nga, who is a staunch Christian, to forgive me,” he said
Koon, who co-founded construction giant IJM Corporation Bhd and reportedly bankrolled Pakatan Harapan parties in the past, also assured that he would continue to provide the coalition with financial assistance
Based on a portion of an article believed to be written by Koon on Nov 5 which has been making the rounds on social media, the tycoon had lashed out at Nga for allegedly allowing the Perak menteri besar to remove him from the advisory council
The article has since been removed from Koon’s blog
On Nov 2, Koon claimed his appointment as Perak state economic adviser was stopped by the palace over an article in which he alleged that the late Sultan Azlan Shah had offered state titles and honours for money
However, Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said it had been his decision to drop Koon as a member of the SEAC as the businessman had made “very serious” allegations about the former ruler
Faizal said Koon had sullied the name of the late sultan, who was once lord president of the Federal Court and had been much loved by his subjects. - FMT
