Travel Out Of Sabah Banned From Tomorrow

(FMT) – The government has decided to ban all forms of travel out of Sabah to the peninsula, Sarawak and Labuan from tomorrow until Oct 20.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said exemptions will only be given to certain cases that involve emergencies, deaths, essential services and others that will require the health ministry’s approval.
“Those who have got the approval will have to undergo Covid-19 screening upon arrival at their destination,” he said in a statement today.
Travellers who will be allowed to enter Sabah include Sabahans who hold H-code MyKads and spouses of Sabahans who have valid Malaysian immigration passes or proof of marriage or their children’s birth certificates.
Essential service workers with valid immigration passes, non-Sabahan students with student passes from the Sabah Immigration Department and permanent residents with a H-code MyPR card or permit endorsements in their passports will also be allowed to enter the state.
Members of the federal civil service serving in Sabah will need a stamp from the Sabah Immigration Department once they have entered the state.
These travellers are required to submit an application with the Chief Minister’s Department through the internal affairs and research office.
They will also undergo Covid-19 screenings as soon as they arrive in Sabah.
On a separate matter, Ismail said 363 people were arrested by police yesterday for breaching the ongoing recovery movement control order (RMCO).
He said 307 were fined and 56 remanded.
The majority of them were caught for failing to record their personal details when entering shops (129), not wearing mask masks (144) and not observing physical distancing (53).
The others were arrested in pubs and nightclubs, breaching quarantine orders, entering locked down areas without permission, operating businesses beyond business hours, running gambling activities and not having valid documents.
Police also detained 151 undocumented migrants and one smuggler yesterday as part of their ongoing Ops Benteng campaign. They also confiscated five land vehicles.
