Three New Members Appointed To Special Committee On Corruption
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed hope that the appointment of three new members to the Special Committee on Corruption would strengthen public confidence in the government's efforts to enhance integrity and governance.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said that the committee plays a crucial role in advising the prime minister on various aspects related to corruption issues and reviewing the MACC’s annual report.
“It is hoped that the appointment of these members would reinforce public trust in the government's efforts to improve integrity and governance, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani, which emphasises the values of transparency and accountability in the country's administration system,” he added.
Earlier, Anwar presented the appointment letter to the three new members of the special committee.
ADSThey are Senator Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, Senator Awang Sariyan, and Langkawi MP Suhaimi Abdullah in a simple ceremony at the Parliament building, witnessed by MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki.
The appointment is for a term of three years, effective from April 25, 2025, to April 25, 2028.
Shahar appointed as chair
As for the special committee chairperson post, Paya Besar MP Shahar Abdullah has been appointed to the position for three years, effective April 25.

Paya Besar MP Shahar AbdullahMACC, in a statement today, said that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar had consented to the appointment on the advice of the prime minister by the provisions in Section 14 of the MACC Act.
Anwar presented the instrument of appointment to Shahar, witnessed by Azam, at the Parliament building today.
The existing members in the committee are Batang Lupar MP Shafizan Kepli, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman and Tawau MP Lo Su Fui. Their term expires on Sept 14, 2026.
