The System Is Rigged And Other Truths We D Rather Ignore
I was just binge-watching Law & Order: SVU, and this one episode really hit me hard. It's called "Goliath," and it's about a group of soldiers who return from Afghanistan with severe mental health issues after being exposed to a dangerous drug. The military knew about the side effects but covered it up, leaving these soldiers to suffer the consequences.
Essentially, Dr. Trainer is acknowledging the uphill battle Novak is facing. He's suggesting that her idealism and desire for justice may be met with significant resistance and that the world doesn't always operate in a perfectly just or straightforward manner
It made me realize how unfair the real world can be, especially when powerful institutions prioritize their own interests over the well-being of individuals.
I've been thinking, what if I'm Dr. Trainer? Will I do the right thing? Will I sacrifices all my life; my job, my family, my future?
I've lived enough to see unfairness happen right in front of me; Yes, the world isn't always fair.
The legal system? 🥴 Forget about it. Politicians? 😴 Don't even get me started. And the corporate world? 🤑 Well, let's just say it's a jungle out there
In our world, powerful entities and complex legal systems often create challenges for individuals seeking justice. This is a harsh reality.
You see, these systems, they're built by people. And people, well, we're not perfect. We're flawed. We have biases. We care about power and money more than we care about justice.
The legal system? It's supposed to be blind, right? But it's not. Money talks. Loudly. 💰 The richer you are, the better lawyers you can afford. The better your lawyers, the better your chances of winning. It's a rigged game from the start. Politicians? They're supposed to represent us. But who are they really representing? The people? Or the big donors who fund their campaigns? 🤔 Let's just say, their priorities might not always align with ours. Like, have you ever tried to get a pothole fixed in your neighborhood? Good luck with that! 🚧The corporate world? It's all about profits. Period. 📈 Customer satisfaction? Employee well-being? Environmental impact? 🌍 Those are afterthoughts. If it doesn't make money, it doesn't matter. Just look at all those fast fashion brands. Exploiting workers, destroying the environment, and still raking in the dough. 🤑 A worker may be exposed to unsafe working conditions but fear retaliation if they report the issue. Now, I know what you're thinking. "This is all very depressing." 🙁 But it's the truth. And the first step to fixing a problem is acknowledging that it exists.
So, what can we do?
Understand how these systems work. Learn about your rights. Don't be afraid to voice your concerns. 📣Support those who are fighting for change. It won't be easy. But it's worth it. Well, at least you tried.
Honestly, sometimes it feels like the world is just one big, unfair game. I've tasted that bitter taste of injustice more than once, and it can leave you feeling cynical and hopeless. It's easy to think there's no goodness left in this world. But don't give up. Keep walking that straight path, even when it feels impossible. Remember, God is always there, watching over us
P.S It's on Netflix!
