The Real Reason Why Dr Mahathir Appointed Hamid Bador The Igp
So, all this cock-and-bull story that Hamid Bador was appointed the IGP so that he could reform and clean up an extremely corrupt police force is mere cock-and-bull. Hamid Bador’s appointment was pure political and because he was politically useful to the Prime Minister. Of course, the Kluster anti-Muhyiddin will believe cock-and-bull stories because they lack a very important ingredient…a brain.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is famous for always giving his side of the story. His side of the story is normally the ‘sanitised’ version, the version that makes him look noble, sincere, clever, a man of vision, a man who sacrifices for his country, etc.
Dr Mahathir’s story on why he appointed Abdul Hamid Bador as the IGP is a perfect example of how he makes everything he does sound flawless, steeped in vision, and with a mission. (READ HERE: Alasan kenapa Dr Mahathir lantik Hamid Bador jadi IGP)
That version of events as to why Dr Mahathir appointed Hamid Bador the IGP is as credible or plausible as Chin Peng telling us that his perjuangan is to turn Malaysia into an Islamic State.
Hamid Bador is a political animal who serves political masters
Dr Mahathir said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is highly corrupt and he needed someone like Hamid Bador to reform and clean up the police force. Former IGP Musa Hassan also confessed that the Special Branch was being used by politicians or by those who walk in the corridors of power for political purposes.
And Musa is not the only former IGP was has said this. Many other former IGPs have also confessed the same thing. Hence what Malaysia Today has been saying for many years has been confirmed as true by a former PM and a number of former IGPs.
Okay, so why did Dr Mahathir really appoint Hamid Bador as the IGP? For sure it is not because PDRM is extremely corrupted and he needed Hamid Bador to reform and clean up the police force.
The reason Dr Mahathir appointed Hamid Bador as the IGP is purely political and Dr Mahathir needed to control PDRM though Hamid Bador — plus Hamid Bador proved to be politically very useful and effective.
Hamid Bador is Moorthy’s ‘handler’ since 2012
On 26th November 2007, Waytha Moorthy Ponnusamy a.k.a. Waythamoorthy left Malaysia to take Hindraf’s fight international. In May 2008, the Malaysian government revoked Moorthy’s passport. Moorthy was then given political asylum in the UK and was issued a British passport.
In 2012, Hamid Bador met up with Moorthy in London to negotiate his return to Malaysia in return for Hindraf’s support for Barisan Nasional in the 2013 general election — plus a Cabinet post for Moorthy. In August 2012, the Special Branch brought Moorthy home and in April 2013 Hindraf signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Barisan Nasional.
In the 2013 general election, Moorthy campaigned for Barisan Nasional and after that Najib Tun Razak appointed him a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
On 8th February 2014, Moorthy resigned from the Cabinet to join Dr Mahathir’s anti-Najib movement at the behest of Hamid Bador.
In the 2018 general election, 88% of the Indians voted for Pakatan Harapan, thanks to Hamid Bador
In August 2017, Hindraf, under the leadership of Moorthy, entered into an electoral pact with Dr Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan. The Indian votes for Pakatan Harapan in the May 2018 general election increased to 88% from 50.56% in the election before that — a success that was credited to Hamid Bador’s effort at ‘turning’ Moorthy.
As a reward for Hindraf’s contribution, Moorthy was sworn in as a Senator on 17th July 2018 while Hamid Bador was rewarded with the post of IGP on 4th May 2019.
