The Pathetic Scene Of Pasir Puteh Firefighters Being Reduced To Spectators Due To Water Supply Absence
A TOUCHING scene of the Fire and Rescue Department being unable to douse the fire which destroyed two shop lots in Jalan Nara, Pasir Puteh last Friday (March 14) has invited criticism from Madani government backers with regard to the state of under-development in PAS-ruled Kelantan.
This follows a 56-second clip on X which revealed how “non-availability of water has reduced firemen and the defence force to spectators” at the scene of incident.
‘Condolences to the Pasir Putih folks. The pity is… just let the shop burn down so long as there is no fatality,” penned @MrNiceG36859427 on the X platform. “Who do you expect to supply water? Who is the Pasir Puteh MP?”
According to Buletin TV3, a furniture entrepreneur suffered losses of more than RM500,000 after his shop and the neighbouring tyre shop was 90% destroyed by the fire which razed through both business premises during the 1.15pm incident.
Thankfully, no lives were lost in the incident.
This prompted a commenter to chide PAS politicians as getting to taste its own medicine after “laughing at Los Angeles which had no water to fight its big forest fires.”
This got the poster to rub salt into the wound by stating that PAS has ruled Kelantan for more than 30 years already (since 1990 to be precise).
“Ask @FadhliShaari (PAS information chief Fadhli Shaari) if you don’t believe,” he quipped.

As one commenter brought up the issue of “water tanker”, the poster stressed on the need to verify from the Fire and Rescue Department if indeed there was no water supply in the vicinity as “netizens there made no mention of the matter”.

Since it was confirmed that the absence of water supply was the root cause of the firemen having to take “almost two hours to bring the fire under control”, it was spot on “to file a lawsuit against state water authority AKSB (Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd) to claim for any amount of incurred losses” as suggested by one commenter.
“This is especially inthe event of injury or death. The Fire and Rescue Department cannot be blamed in this regard,” fumed the commenter.

In his account, Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) head Assistant Fire Chief Adni Ibrahim said a total of 31 officers and firefighters from BBP Pasir Puteh, Tok Bali, Tanah Merah, Ketereh and Jertih were involved in the extinguishing operation.
“Firefighters used six water jets from machinery tanks and fire hydrants as far as 400 feet,” he noted.
“The operation also involved ‘cooling’ and ‘fire break’ works in the back of the tire shop and furniture shop. The ‘overhaul’ process was carried out until the fire was completely extinguished.”
As for his reaction, Pasir Puteh MP Datuk Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh could only extend prayers with the hope that “all those affected will be strong enough to face this test ”.
There were nevertheless some netzines who lamented over the unavailability of water despite 30 years of PAS rule and the prioritising of “selling religion” over a vital necessity such as water.
