The Dunggus Do Not Understand The Sun Cannot Catch Up With The Moon The Night Cannot Outstrip The Day

Well the annual 'What Month Is It ?" circus has begun once again.

1.  Brunei to begin "fasting" on Tuesday, NOT Monday (today).  But on their left and right in Sarawak and Sabah the fasting starts today Monday. Different moon?





2.  Over in Scotland the Scottish Hilal Forum will start fasting today Monday, not on Tuesday.



3.   But  the Glasgow Central Mosque (also in Scotland)  will start fasting on Tuesday, not Monday.





4.  The Al Furqan Mosque also in Glasgow will begin fasting on Monday, not on Tuesday.




5. Over in Morocco the fasting will start on Tuesday,  not Monday.





The Quran says :

Surah  3:190   Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,  there are indeed Signs for men of understanding.  (Y. Ali) 

A bit more information is provided in the next verse :

Surah 2:164  Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.  (Y. Ali)   

OSTB :  This means that we have to observe all the nature that is around us - the skies above us, with their planets, stars, moons, galaxies, constellatons, star clusters, then the earth, the night, the day, the ships sailing on the horizon, the rain, the beats, the plants and trees, the changing winds, the clouds in the sky, all these have to be observed and studied. For a practical purpose - they all benefit us. Because we are subservient to Nature and the Laws of Nature.  All of us.

Then the Quran says :

Surah 21:33    And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all floating / swimming  in its course. 
36:38 The sun runs a specific course, according to the design of the Almighty, the Omniscient.

36:39 The moon we designed to appear in stages, until it becomes like an old curved sheath.

36:40 The sun is never to catch up with the moon - the night and the day never deviate - each of them is floating in its own course.

OSTB :  This means the movements of the heavenly bodies floating / swimming (arabic : falakin; fulka means a ship) in a specific course are fixed and predictable. They do not change or waver. We know where the moon will appear and when. Same with the sun. The ancient people have known what stars, planets and constellations will appear in the sky at which time of the year as well.  It is all fixed. Their movements do not change.

And because their movements in the sky do not change or waver the sun, moon and the heavenly bodies can be used as counting devices:

Surah 17:12  We have made the Night and the Day as two Signs: the Sign of the Night have We obscured, while the Sign of the Day We have made bright that ye may seek bounty from your Lord, and that ye may know the number and count of the years: all things have We explained in detail. - 17:12 (Y. Ali)

[6:96]  At the crack of dawn, He causes the morning to emerge. He made the night still, and He rendered the sun and the moon to serve as calculation devices. Such is the design of the Almighty, the Omniscient.

There are many, many more verses which say that the sun, moon, movement of night and day can be used a counting devices. 

Yet our modern 21st century ostards cannot decide if the fasting should start on Monday or Tuesday. It is the same sky and the same moon. You cannot have a different phase of the moon in Glasgow versus Brunei. It is the same moon. 

The human beings have learnt to calculate the appearance of the heavenly bodies with unbelievable skill and accuracy for centuries.

Surah 3:90  Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,  there are indeed Signs for men of understanding.
