The Condemned To Hell Government
NICE to see Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah officiated the only Umno division delegates meeting in Bagan Datuk on Sunday. For its division chief Zahid Hamidi, it is an endorsement given by the party's advisory board chairman for his presidency.
Also widely-known as Ku Li, losing to Zahid in the June 30 2018 presidential election is no more an issue, unlike another contender Khairy Jamaluddin who still haunts Zahid with his sour grapes attitude.
To Ku Li, time is costly now that Umno members must stand firm behind the president and that all differences should be put behind in order to form a formidable force with MCA, MIC, Pas and other friendly organisations and NGOs to put up a strong challenge against the current regime in the next general election.
Let's not talk about the extraordinary atmosphere in Bagan Datuk. I am more enticed to what Ku Li said about the PH government, about the presence debt situation, the disposal of government entities and the manner of some Cabinet members who raised credibility concern among the public.
KERAJAAN CELAKA is how he described the Cabinet of Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He even recalled the moment when Dr M called him a 'problem maker' during his contest against the party president in 1987. Dr M had applied the same label on Musa Hitam and few others.
Perhaps Dr M has forgotten the era when Hussein Onn was Umno president in 1977, the year he led a group of 'problem makers' to oust the prime minister. Years on when he became the fourth prime minister and Umno president, he urged members to rally behind him. He is the 'Melayu Mudah Lupa', actually!
Ku Li was sharp in condemning the economic methods of the current government, hitting hard at Dr M and Lim Guan Eng's style of selling off the government assets made by the BN government, just to finance their 'unnecessary' projects and ambitions.
And maybe in a day or two, Dr M will have to think of a line or two for counter-attack. However, what Ku Li had said contains significant logic.
With the ballooning foreign debt - from RM686 billion to around RM800 billion in just a year - the country is set to become another Greece and Brazil in a few years to come, something alarming for the next government to shoulder. If PH really wants to retain its grip in the next term, surely they wouldn't go to this extent unless they really want to be a 'one-term government'.
Ku Li is Dr M's political nemesis, so to say. For Malaysians, anything that the prince says carries weight. When he labelled them as 'celaka' in Bagan Datuk, it meant really 'celaka' or DAMNED!
Should Barisan Nasional wins the next battle, it will be an uphill task to re-engineer the economy again and put it back to where it belonged. Spiraling cost of living which puts the people in a tight situation, might take a longer time to revive, and of course, for BN to accumulate the wealth and assets again, is not going to be easy.
But the rakyat will have to bear with BN, that's what Ku Li said. Time will tell.
As for Zahid, it was also the moment that saw his collaboration with Pas begins to bear fruit. With such a political move, it sends shivers down Dr M and Kit Siang's necks. Just focus on the effort for teething problems in Umno seem to fizzle out now, except for some stupid elements caused by KJ, Hisham and few others.
Zahid needs to move fast and look forward in ensuring that the new collaboration will elevate Umno and BN once again, and to guarantee that Pas will be in Putrajaya for the first time in history. With the going-on, PH is getting more insignificant!
