Terengganu Harapan Bn Leaders Miffed After Allegedly Barred From Welcoming Pm

Pakatan Harapan and BN leaders in Terengganu have claimed that they were barred from welcoming Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his visit to flood-affected areas in the state yesterday.
Terengganu Harapan chairperson Mohd Hasbie Muda said about 40 of them were waiting at Sultan Mahmud Airport at 9.30am.
However, they were informed that they were not allowed to meet and accompany Anwar, who reportedly arrived at 10.25am.
“We were waiting to welcome the prime minister, who was visiting flood-hit areas in Terengganu. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed that the unity government leaders in Terengganu were not permitted to meet him.
“This is an insult to the unity government parties in Terengganu,” he said in a video shared with Malaysiakini today.
Also present was Terengganu Umno chairperson Rozi Mamat and former menteri besar Ahmad Said.
PM Anwar Ibrahim and Terengganu MB Ahmad Samsuri MokhtarOn Sunday, Anwar, along with Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, visited several temporary evacuation centres in the state and announced an additional RM25 million allocation each for Kelantan and Terengganu.
‘Unprecedented’
Hasbie claimed this was the first such incident in history and alleged it was due to orders from the state government’s top officials.
“This is unprecedented. We hope the Terengganu state government does not engage in such politics.
“In the midst of dealing with a disaster, such actions are unacceptable. We deeply regret this and hope it will not happen again.
“We were also informed that the Federal Village Development and Security Committees in villages were not given roles to assist at the evacuation centres,” the senator said.
