Technical Glitch Blamed For Ppe Non Delivery For Hospital Money Refunded

The Seri Manjung Hospital's board of visitors former president, Mohd Azrien Mohd Salleh, has shed light on the controversy surrounding the non-delivery of 700 personal protective equipment (PPE).
He showed Malaysiakini evidence to prove that the RM10,500 for the PPEs was transferred to the board's bank account yesterday.
DAP's Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham had allocated the sum, which was transferred to the board's account on April 19, 2020, four days after Mohd Azrien made the request.
Last week, Ngeh's aide lodged a police report on the matter, urging for an investigation into possible misuse of the funds.
Mohd Azrien said the PPEs could not be delivered due to "technical problems."
"The supplier is from Malaysia who ordered the goods from China.
"However, the goods were not delivered. I have asked the supplier to refund, so the supplier has done so.
"This is a technical problem. The goods did not arrive due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now the supplier has to bear the loss," he told Malaysiakini.
His term as the president of the board ended in April 2020, the same month he made the application for the allocation.
Mohd Azrien, who is a Bersatu member, is currently a Manjung municipal councillor.
In a statement yesterday, Ngeh's political secretary Jason Ng said Mohd Azrien had promised to deliver the PPEs within two weeks.
"The director of Seri Manjung Hospital sent a letter to the Beruas MP on Jan 12, claiming that no PPE had been received after nine months, although the hospital management had found the record of the fund allocated by Ngeh into their account.
"The hospital management asked if Ngeh retracted the allocation. Ngeh replied that he did not retract the fund, and he then instructed his special secretary to lodge a police report.
"We were also informed that the hospital lodged a report at the end of last year," he added.
Manjung district police chief Nor Omar Sappi reportedly said the matter is being investigated under Section 408 of the Penal Code, which is related to criminal breach of trust. - Mkini
