Tasik Chini Mining Actor Amerul Awaits Jakim S Hadith
Concerned over the issue of mining activities near Tasik Chini in Pahang, Temerloh-born actor Amerul Affendi hopes that the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) will issue a hadith regarding the matter.
In a sarcastic tweet, he said the view surrounding Malaysia’s second-largest lake was no longer 'captivating' to look at as the area 'had not been completely cleared'.
"It's not satisfying to see that the area has not been completely cleared. Can’t we clear it as far as the camera's lens can go?
"Yes, these are the current conditions of Tasik Chini. Never mind, we are not qualified to criticise. Even if we criticise nicely and politely, it won’t be of any use.
"Let's just hope Jakim will come out with a hadith," said Amerul (above), who acted in the film "Mencari Rahmat".
Malaysiakini had recently reported that the Pahang government had given approval to a company linked to a royal family for mining work to commence around Tasik Chini in Pekan despite plans to rehabilitate the area.
The new mining site is located about three kilometres from Tasik Chini. The area is a Unesco biosphere reserve that, in recent years, has struggled with pollution problems due to mining and logging.
Jakim, meanwhile, was previously criticised by various parties after uploading onto Facebook a hadith about one’s duty in being loyal to a ruler and how it is forbidden to insult a ruler who is considered ‘the shadow of God'. - Mkini
