Takiyuddin Confirms Communications With Dpm On Opposition Funding
Perikatan Nasional chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan today confirmed communications with Deputy Prime Minister II Fadillah Yusof on the issue of allocations for opposition MPs.
Specifically, the Kota Bharu MP told reporters in Parliament that he contacted Fadillah to clarify a statement about the formation of a committee to examine all opposition proposals for a comprehensive solution.
"I texted him (Fadillah) on his statement (yesterday) that the government has agreed to form a consultation committee, (asking) 'Is that true?'.
"He replied, 'You send a letter, and I will form a committee'," said Takiyuddin (above), who noted that Fadillah's reply indicated that the government's agreement is conditional.
"You can ask him (Fadillah). I have proof. I am a lawyer and I will not speak without facts.
"He said if there's any letter from the opposition, either to discuss or any other proposals, then he will set up a committee," said the PAS secretary-general during a press conference with opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin and other PN MPs.
Hamzah said PN's next step will be to write a letter to Fadillah for an official confirmation.

Deputy Prime Minister II Fadillah Yusof"Since he asked for us to send a letter. We will send a letter that states if what he said (on setting up a consultation committee) is true, then we agree," said Hamzah.
Yesterday, Fadillah, who is also chairperson of the Government Consultation Council Committee, said only Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had met him with proposals on allocations for opposition MPs.
However, Fadillah noted that Syed Saddiq - an independent MP - did not represent the opposition as a whole. - Mkini
