Tajuddin Says He Wasn T Suspended Dap S Hannah Agrees
Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said he left the Dewan Rakyat voluntarily and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh agreed that he was not ‘chased out’.KUALA LUMPUR: Umno’s Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has found an unlikely ally in DAP’s Hannah Yeoh after he insisted that he had not been suspended from the Dewan Rakyat following his outburst in the lower house last month.
The Pasir Salak MP said this when maintaining that his vote to revoke a provision under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) be kept.
Tajuddin said he had chosen to leave the Dewan Rakyat voluntarily as he “did not want to prolong the endless chaos” on that day, and also because he had other business to attend to.
“That is why I left the Dewan, which might have been interpreted as being ordered to leave the Dewan, which is not true,” Tajuddin told Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun.
Tajuddin said he wasn’t “chased out” and was not suspended for two days.
Hannah Yeoh (PH-Segambut) then interjected, saying that for “the first time” she agreed with Tajuddin.
“That is true, none of us heard the deputy speaker saying so.”
Earlier, Azhar said he had removed Tajuddin’s vote on the Sosma provision, citing a Standing Order.
He had done so following a request by Teo Nie Ching (PH-Kulai) yesterday pointing out that Tajuddin was still present in the Dewan on that day and participated in the voting on the Sosma motion.
Today, Tajuddin said there was no need to cancel his vote because he had not been suspended then.
He said he was only informed by deputy speaker Rashid Hasnon a “day or two” after his outburst that he had been suspended.
“But I couldn’t be bothered to argue (with him) and kept quiet.”
Tajuddin then told the Dewan to forget the issue and move on.
On July 20, Tajuddin was alleged to have made a lewd remark after he was called out by opposition MPs for making sexist remarks.
Six days earlier, Rashid said Tajuddin was suspended for two days beginning July 20.
On that day, the Dewan Rakyat voted to revoke the Sosma provision which had been rejected in the previous sitting in March. - FMT
