Tajuddin Forms New Ngo Calls For Rally Report
Former Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has set up a new NGO to fight for the Malays, whom he reportedly said are being left behind economically, academically, and politically.
The report by Free Malaysia Today said the new group will also be holding a gathering called “Himpunan Melayu Bangkit” (Rise of the Malays Rally) at Kampung Gajah, Pasir Salak, Perak, on Wednesday.
Tajuddin (above) is the president of the new group “Pasir Salak Bangkit” (Pasir Salak Rises). He said the event is open to everyone regardless of their political affiliation.
It is reportedly aimed at “helping the Malays to rise” as, according to Tajuddin, recent developments have shown Malays are falling behind their other compatriots.
“I feel sad because that is very dangerous,” he reportedly told a press conference at his residence in Kuala Lumpur today.
The former Pasir Salak MP’s membership in Umno has been suspended for six years starting October last year over his open criticism of the party.
He claims to have been betrayed but intends to remain in the party while expressing hope in May that the suspension would be lifted.
Meanwhile, Tajuddin was reportedly dismissive when asked about similarities between his initiative and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Malay Proclamation.
“It’s just a proclamation, they never rose up,” he was quoted as saying. - Mkini
