Syed Saddiq Denies Backing Pn After Meeting Muhyiddin
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has denied backing Perikatan Nasional after he uploaded an image on social media showing that he met the coalition’s president Muhyiddin Yassin for two hours.
When contacted, the Muar MP said he has been involved in bipartisan engagements since he was part of Pakatan Harapan after the 2018 general election.
"I stated the purpose of the meeting (on social media). I have been having bipartisan (engagements) when I was in the government and when I was part of the opposition. And now, I am back in the government.
"And I stated this quite a number of times. How is that (some speculated I am backing PN)?" he asked.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, Syed Saddiq said he is a strong believer in bipartisanship.
"The general election is over, now is the time to focus on serving. Despite being in a different party, my respect for Muhyiddin remains the same. Respect friends and opponents.
"Two hours of chatting, catching up on life after elections. Muhyiddin is also my voter in Muar. He contributed a lot," he added.
"Let’s build a Malaysia which is governed with integrity and dignity, a country where all Malaysians feel at home.”
Need effective opposition
Syed Saddiq said for Malaysia to become a developed country, there must be the courage to serve across political boundaries.
"We need a strong and stable government with an effective opposition to turbocharge Malaysia forward. Time to focus on rebuilding Malaysia," the former youth and sports minister said.
Syed Saddiq is also the only Muda politician to win a parliamentary seat in the recent 15th general election. - Mkini
