Losing someone you love is incredibly tough, especially when they’re family. Recently, the Korean YouTube channel, The Garo Sero Research Institute (atau HoverLab), shared a deeply touching handwritten letter from the mother of late actress Kim Saeron.
Known for discussing political issues and current events in Korea, this channel also revealed new information about Kim Saeron’s case, such as identifying the manager behind the leaked audio recordings of her private moments shared with YouTuber Lee Jinho.
In her letter, Kim Saeron’s mother pours out her heart. She writes, “My beloved daughter Sae Ron, are you in a warm place? Are you free from pain now? Every day feels unbearable. My heart is heavy, and even though winter is coming to an end, my heart remains frozen. I can’t bring myself to part with your things, like your pajamas that still carry your scent.”
The letter continues with her expressing how she regrets not being there for her daughter during her final days. She reminisces about the advice she’d give Saeron — like cautioning her against staying out late and being careful with social media — all in hopes of keeping her safe. She also highlights the people at Saeron’s funeral who truly knew and cared for her.
Towards the end, Kim Saeron’s mom makes a heartfelt plea for an apology regarding the slander her daughter faced, aiming to prevent similar injustices in the future. She closes with a poignant message: “People may not know the truth, but I do. Those who truly loved you know. I’m sorry, Sae Ron. I will try to let you go quietly now.”
The letter, narrated by a voice actor from Garo Sero, reveals the deep sorrow a mother feels after such a loss. Currently, Kim Saeron’s family, including her two siblings and mother, are living in a small house with the dog she adopted. Her mother’s health is struggling, and she has mobility issues. They even kept the paintings made by Kim Saeron that reflect her emotional struggles.
On a related note, the fallout from the allegations surrounding Kim Saeron has affected others, including actor Kim Soohyun, who lost major sponsorships with brands like Prada, Jo Malone, and Cuckoo China. Kim Soohyun has also taken legal action against the family and Garo Sero for defamation.
