 Taman Negeri Rompin, Pahang - 21 August 2022 The Adventure Racing (AR) Asia Series – under the Adventure Racing World Series ( ARWS ), have just concluded the AR Rompin on the 20th August at Taman Negeri Rompin. 
The 3 categories of race, consisting of a under 10 km Trail Run ( T1 ) and the under 80 km Team of Two ( T2 ) and Team of Four ( T4 ) multi-disciplined race, covering Trail Running, Navigation, Mountain Biking, Tubing and Abseiling & Tyrolean Traverse at the Sri Makota waterfall. 
In total over 140+ participants were flagged off in two batches at the Rompin state park on a beautiful morning on the 20th Aug by Tourism Malaysia senior director, Tuan Syed Yahya Syed Othman accompanied by En. Hedzir Aminudin & Mr. Owen Choo – Directors of Rompin Park Resort. 
42 participants from the T2 & T4 categories were flagged off at 0741 hrs. while the balance of T1 Trail runners followed thru at approx. 0820 hrs.

Mr. Sim Chong Yau ( 209 ) comes in Champion of AR Rompin T1, completing the approx. 9km trail crossing the Finishing line needing just 1 hrs. 14 minutes. 
While 1 st runner-up : En. Muhammad Farhan Najmi (169) a mere 2 seconds behind with the 2 nd runner-up En. Hafizul Asing Abdullah ( nicknamed Cikgu Hafizul in number 198 ) completing the overall top 3 podium finishers just a dash few more seconds behind.
On the Team of Two ( T2 ), the partnering of Mr. Kim Hong Yeo & Ying Zhi Chua - Team F & S ( 215 ) from Singapore came in Champion of T2 needing a time of just 5 hrs. 44 minutes to complete AR Rompin. 
T2 1 st Runner up ( Team Skomad ) a husband and wife team - Zulhelmy & Nur Haafidzah ( she was one of the ARWS Demo race participants back in 2019 for the Kuala Lumpur – Kuantan 3 days race ). Team Skomad passed the finishing line 6 hours 24 minutes. 
KBS Adventure Team ( 305 ) to clinched the AR Rompin T4 Champion in 5 hrs. 54 minutes – Team KBS Adventure Team is represented by Norazrin Kamsor Azrin ( she was one of the ARWS Demo race participants back in 2019 for the Kuala Lumpur – Kuantan 3 days race ) and Mohd Azuan, Muhammad Syamsul & Yusof Abdul Manan. 
1 st runner up for T4 goes to Team 309 : KE7B AR Team headed by another 2019 ARWS Demo race participant – Suhaimi Mohamdin coming in with a time of 6 hrs. 19 minutes with teammate Azan, Shamsudduha & Mustika Ayumi. 
2 nd Runner up of T4 ( Team 303 : Team Kamikaze Alpha needed 6 hrs. 37 minutes to complete, headed again by another 2019 ARWS Demo race participant – Muhammad Shukri alongside his team mate Ahmad Mustapa, Faherina Mohd Esa & Mohd Puzi.

While the morning and afternoon weather was full of sun shine, heavy downpour sets in around 1500 hrs. exposing Abseiling & Tyrolean Traverse into the danger zone of lightening striking the high-tensile cables, the Race Director had to stop the tail end adventure racers from attempting that discipline at the waterfall. 
Last team of T4 ( 308 ) returned to basecamp and while officers checking and finalizing timing and fulfillment of checking ( punching ) in at all required check points, sumptuous buffet were prepared by the organizers for a relaxing moment. 
Prize Presentation at the state park were held at 1600 hrs. at the Multi Purpose hall with Dr. Fateh Mohammed, Vice President of Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine Malaysia – SSEMM representing the Host and En. Hedzir Aminudin representing Rompin Park resort giving out the Trophies and goodies. 
T2 Champion walks home with a RM1500, while T4 Champion carries RM3000, followed by T4 Runner-up & 2 nd Runner-up at RM2600 & RM2000 respectively. All podium winners get invitation to one round of next year’s AR Asia Series in Malaysia. 
Official partners of the event like Citizen Watch is offering limited edition ARWS Citizen Altichron watches while ALTY Orthopaedic Hospital will be offering participants special packaged health screening. All participants were invited by the state park rangers to plant a Tree at the end of the event. Until then, see you all in AR Asia Series 2023 !!!
